Help with installation of depth sounder, extra USB

Glad it worked out, I went back to check on the fuse box placement and you are correct my is held in place with two screws as well. I did it like 18 months ago and didn't remember that. Glad it's only a pilot hole and in an inconspicuous spot. Maybe a dab of gray chaulk will hide the sin. Glad we could help and enjoy the boat.

Awesome! Glad it all worked out! Now share some photos so we can all benefit from your handy work!

As for the extra wire you asked about....if you never plan on moving that fuse block, I would remove the extra wire. The shorter the wire, the less issue you have with overheating it, and just having the wire there hanging is more likely to get caught on something and pulled. Not critical as it is unlikely you will have enough current draw on that 8g wire, but shorter is better.

Glad we could help!!!!

I'll have to work on taking some photos! It was unfortunately quite hot yesterday in the garage, and I just wanted to get out of there ASAP. Haha.

I did end up cutting an extra few feet off of the cable. Figured shorter was probably better, and that having a longer section of extra wire just in case was smarter.

Oh, I also wired in an in line fuse off of the battery (currently has a 15 amp fuse in place since the draw on the depth sounder and usb are low enough and they're all fused at the box, as well).

On that note, any advice on how to fill a tiny hole in the area under the helm where I accidentally put a tiny pilot hole in? :(

Yeah, it's luckily just a small hole. I'll look at filling it in with something at some point, but unless you're looking for it and know where it is you won't even notice it.

Next project: installing the second boat buckle when I can get to that part of the trailer. Then the lateral thruster. And thennnnn...maybe some gatorstep.

I ended up replacing the 12V outlet that came in the boat with a dual USB quick charge outlet that has a volt meter and power button to turn it off.

Pretty happy with it so far!

If you have white gelcoat fill the hole with that-but unlikely you have that handy. What I'd probably do is put a little white caulk in the hole, or 4200.
