  • Guest, we are pleased to announce that Hydrophase Ridesteady is offering an extra $100 off for JETBOATERS.NET members on any Ridesteady for Yamaha Speed Control system purchased through March 7th, 2025. Ridesteady is a speed control system (“cruise control”) that uses GPS satellites or engine RPM to keep your boat at the set speed you choose. On twin engine boats, it will also automatically synchronize your engines.

How stiff are the throttles on these boats

My throttles are tight too, and that is ok, but I have a different throttle issue. I can move my starboard throttle forward and it stays put, but my port won't hold rpm when i advance it say from 5000 to 6000. The rpm goes up to 6000, and when I let go of the throttle, it goes back to 5000. To get it to hold at 6000 (best cruise) I have to take it up to 7000, then pull it back to 6000. then it holds.

This is the exact same issue I have on my new 212X. I really don't want to have to leave the new boat at the dealer's again for them to fix it. Hopefully, someone knows of a torque adjustment screw or something like that so we can fix it ourselves.

I have a sx240 2010 and throttles suck. They are hard to push forward and back. I made the adjustment with the screws , with no help. I never thought to take off the throttle cables to see if it was the buckets hanging up. Has anyone taking apart the throttle quadrants. It's really annoying when docking. I use the cruise assist once under way, but going forward to reverse or vice versa is a pita.

@Flower Not sure about the 2015s but I suspect it's the same as mine - on the back of the throttle (the 'reverse' side) there are two plastic covers down near the bottom. These cover the adjustment screws. (See image from 2012 service manual.)
Thanks for the info. I will try to adjust the screws this weekend. Stay tuned.

Did you ever fix the issue? I have the same boat!
