Is a Roomba an appropriate gift for mother, or is it still just a vacuum?

A couple of months ago we started using a house cleaning company for the first time in our lives, they come every other week and clean everything in the house for like $ 260.00 a month - money well spent, so with that said maybe surprise her with a Maid Service for a month??

Be forewarned: My buddy did the "try it for a month or two" thing. He's now in for a monthly cleaning fee for the rest of his days... :)

My Wife is so happy with their service, it's worth any amount. We normally spend damn near 3/4 of a Saturday cleaning the house, this makes our weekends free now completely. Plus we are doing our part creating/keeping jobs in this country Lol.

You should look into a Sous Vide cooking kit. I think that is what I am looking at getting for my mother. It seems pretty cool and a new way to cook food.

O.K. That's something different. So you're basically just cooking in very precisely controlled hot water?

Correct the nice thing is its kind of a set it and forget it thing. If you want a Mid Rare steak set the temp and walk away come back hours later if you like and I usually quickly sear the outside to give it a crust on a grill or flat top. Also when cooking things you can melt other ingredients in the bag so I have cooked a half a striploin before through a bunch of seasoning in the bag and a stick of butter to melt into the steak as well.

Guys....The rather true saying with ladies is that plugs don’t get hugs (this includes moms)

Ladies .... Plugs mean your man will be fiddling with the gadget/tool instead of you.

Hell that's what my wife put on her wish list this year for Christmas.

We have a Neato - and it is the greatest thing I have bought in a while. We have two dogs and it makes our life so much easier. I would not run it when not at the house though. We usually have to empty it once per cycle. Also I have heard stories of people's dogs crapping in the house then it runs it over and smears crap all over the house.
Crap isn't necessarily the concern so much as puke is. Cats are notorious for that and it could leave some nice streaks all over the house.

Need help with poll.

You don't want her tripping on this thing and falling. The hassle and medical expenses is not worth it. Get her a pet.

Our Kirby vacuum died on Christmas Eve, I knew we were going to need a working vacuum through Jan. 1st so my son and I bought the best / most expensive Dyson available from Costco for my son to give to my wife for Christmas (intentional irony as I was thinking of this thread when was standing in line at Costco). My wife was reluctant at first but now really likes it, my son loves it because it is lighter.

Well, I am glad I did not buy one for her....

Because my Dad bought her one. If one would have been bad, I'm not sure what buying her two would have done.

I think it would have sent her the message that neither of you thinks she vacuums enough.
