My rope snapped while skiing from the transom hook this past weekend - which resulted in a wonderful crash centered right on my undercarriage
. As there was no good method to attach the shortened rope to the transom hook, I skied off the tower. It felt extremely weird - although it was also my first time skiing anything but a full-length rope so it was bound to feel much different regardless. Anyways, thoughts on skiing from the tower: getting up on the ski was easier from the tower mount, but the ski felt really "light" in the water and I had a harder time feeling like I was skiing on edge. I didn't care for the tower and prefer skiing from the transom mount - although if someone is just learning to get up, the tower may be a good introduction.
Side note, when the rope snapped it didn't come anywhere near me as I have always feared. Serves as a reminder to respect the damage and fraying you see on your tow equipment. Maybe I was lucky, but no matter what I will be more proactive in replacing my tow ropes in the future.
