JetBoatPilot Perfect Pass Group Buy

Got it. I thought the yamaha spedo was 5 inches but with the boat in winter storage where I can't measure it, I'm probably wrong.

@sstegh, the Yamaha gauges are 3" or 3.5". The smaller perfect pass display is the perfect fit.

So do people replace their speedo with the PP display or??? I need to go look up some example installs.

Pretty much. The speedo is a dumb device and fairly inaccurate, or at least mine is. Since it looks like I can get the colors to match my tachs, I'd be happy to replace the speedo!

Yes replace speedo.

Glad to get that corrected @Bruce . We will specify 3" gauge for all Yamaha's unless told otherwise.

Here is a picture of my uninstalled PerfectPass 3.5 gauge which will fit perfectly when I get around to installing. Yes, I have sat on a barely opened PerfectPass box for almost a year!

Ok, now I am confused. Was there a gauge size change over the past few years? If so what does the 3" gauge fit and what does the 3.5" gauge fit? I need that info to make sure orders get placed correctly and we don't have returns to deal with.

I think @Bruce is correct about the 3.5 inch instruments. He has a 2007 model, I'll measure my 2014 model in storage this weekend to verify. Based on Bruce's picture it looks the same.

PerfectPass comes in two sizes 3.5" or 5". All Yamaha's use the 3.5" size gauge. The larger gauge is for a few specific manufacturers. I do not see any way that a 5" gauge could fit into any Yamaha dash that I have seen. The available gauges are listed at http://www.perfectpass.com/?q=displays . My guess is that Gary priced the kit with 3.5" gauges and it would be an upcharge if anyone really wanted a 5".

Ok that makes things much easier.

Also there is a max set on this group buy at 25 units. Once we hit 25 units the sale will close regardless of date.

I believe we are at 8 units if they all hold up.

Just found out that perfect pass does not use factory GPS puck. It does not have sufficient speed to work correctly with PP.

The perfect pass kit includes a GPS receiver that reports at a higher frequency than the factory receiver in late model Yamaha's. I asked about using it as a DSC input for my radio as well but PP recommended against it.

Ok. Thank you for looking into that for us @JetBoatPilot. I'll have to take that puck apart. I want to remove the original antenna and possibly put the PP antenna under the puck enclosure.
