Know there is a few guys on lake murray... Where are the hang outs? Staying at Dreher island and gonna hit the freyed knot, and maybe rusty anchor. Will be wife and myself, bro and sis in law, and our 9yo, so sadly no nude beaches. haha .

@andy07sx230ho @Morrowcat @jmfnmf4 are all around Lake Murry (just used the Member Map to find them).....bet they'll weigh in!

We went there for a vacation a few years ago....nice area for sure! Have to go to Bomb island as sunset to see the purple martins return to roost.

To me the Rusty Anchor (main restaurant) is not worth the money, their outside restaurant/bar is a nice place for bar food and to hang out. One restaurant worth checking out is just around the corner from the Rusty Anchor, Liberty on the Lake at Lake Murray marine.

I haven't been in a couple of years but Buffalo Creek Bar & Grill was a good place to get a bite to eat.

If you are there soon, check out Bomb Island (as know as Lunch Island) at sunset, the purple martin birds come there to roost.

Just south of Bomb Island is Sandy Beach, the only public beach on the lake. The east side cove of the point is the party side, the west side cove is the quiet side, and the north side is general hangout (just watch for the rocks as you approach).

A nice boat ride is up the lake and into the Saluda River. If the Saluda River at Chappells is >4' you should be able to boat all the way to the base of the Lake Greenwood dam.

20130919_150903.jpg Andy beat me to it but he's spot on. There's a few places to pull up and hang out on the south side
There's more beach/less rocks to the left and right

awesome guys.. thanks for the info. Will definitely hit bird island... and will shy away from rusty anchor. Think we will be hittng the freyed knot, just for its close proximity to the state park.

I haven't been to the Frayed Knot but have heard good things about it.
