Lifetime fuel filter?

When I picked up my sx190 I asked the techs where the fuel filter was located so I could maintain basic maintenance. The tech said the filter was inside the fuel tank, and didnt need to be changed on a regular basis. Is this true?

I'm not 100% sure of you're year and model. But Yamaha has put a screen on the bottom of the fuel pumps (inside the small hole) on mine. I would imagine it's the same on all of our boats. To clean it, they recommend soaking and rinsing it in a bucket of gasoline.

I don't think that its possible to remove the screen from the pump. I really don't know what the service interval is for cleaning it. I removed (and cleaned mine while they were out) because I had bad fuel and drained the tank.

Their communities don't really hold a candle to this one IMO and it will certainly be missed if/when I move on.
