My sweet boxer - Zula Skittles - had a very unexpected 3 days turn of events that ended with the toughest thing a pet owner ever has to do.. I rubbed he favorite spot and wisphered in her ear that she was the best friend ever... While she was put down. She was so strong - we never knew how much cancer had taken over her life. When a emergency surgery was my only choice today to learned the sad story to be told about her abort end to her time with me. So - Hug your best friend, rub their ears and let them have a special treat - beacuse they surely don't stay a part of lives nearly long enough!

This is Zula in her last car ride, you would not have known how bad she was doing - from the great strength she showed.

My condolences to you @Jackew . We had to do the same last week. The memories will always be priceless and it never hurts to remember we all live just one day at a time with no promises. Carpe diem.

That's really sad to hear, @Jackew

Best wishes to you and yours

So sorry for your lose @Jackew boxers are great dogs . We have two boxers 6 & 7 years old at hate the thought of losing them but I know it will happen.

Sorry for your loss, its a horrible thing to have to do. I did this about 32 years ago to my best childhood friend. She was 17 years old almost completely blind and deaf. We waited for a long time hoping she would pass at home but she refused. At the end you need to do whats best for them. To this day I have never owned another dog because I could never go through that again. I feel for you.

I am very sorry for your loss. We have a German Shorthair Pointer who is a member of our family.

I'm very sorry for your loss @Jackew . Thanks for sharing. She was a beautiful dog. I'll give my French Bulldog a hug now, even though the little bugger pissed in his kennel while I was taking him to the allergy vet today... $450 later.

Sympathies to you and your FAMILY, @Jackew !

sorry to hear about Zula,

Sorry for your loss , as I've been there with my first last year . they all hold a special part in our lives/heart !

God bless you and your family. So sorry.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I imagine you and your family are feeling the gamut of emotions. Hang in there.

So sorry for your loss @Jackew . It does really sucks to lose our 4 legged family members so soon.

We had a yellow lab that we had to let go of a few years ago that was the best dog that I'd ever had in my life. The day we decided that it was time to let her go we learned that she had a large mass in her stomach that was probably cancer. We also learned that she hardly had any cart ledge in her hip joints and one hip had a loose bone fragment in the joint. I couldn't believe that she was still walking after learning that. I got to stay with her as the vet did their thing of putting her to sleep. I'd never been able to do that before. That was a very difficult day. We miss you Daisy!:(

Sorry for your loss @Jackew. It's always hard losing a family member.

These waggie tail fur balls really get to you, I've lost a faithful friend in the past, well two friends. Best wishes to you and your family.

@Jackew Sorry for your loss....man its tough to go through. Crushes you in every way. Which is why we now always try and have 2 dogs (an older and a younger)....doesn't eliminate the pain....but sure helps with transference!

Sorry for your pain... enjoy the good memories and shared stories

Thanks everyone. Didn't mean for my message to be downer - just wanted to make a point not to miss out on a hug or doggie kiss - because you never know. I am so lucky that we were together to the end as I have been doing a lot of out of the country travel lately.

Zula does have a young sister @Julian. It does help to have another dog.

All will be good and with time everything become more tolerable.

I guess @Seadeals final comment "carpe diem" best conveys what I wanted to say?

Sorry @Jackew . I'm very attached to my two pups also and don't look forward to that day.
