Making the move to V-Drive

there is 30 something feet of water under my boat as we speak!
What are you doing out on a Thursday night in January? Yes, you are spoiled.

I'm spoiled. I have one buddy with a Supra and another buddy with a brand new Malibu Wakesetter.

Nice! If you want to surf Yamaha is not the boat you want. Sure there are way to make it work but it will never put out the kind of wave that v-drives will. When my kids get older I will likely making the change as well. Right now the Yammy is perfect for my young fam.

Says Who?????? You just have to be dedicated....lol

Says Who??????
Says me and many other Yamaha owners. Sure you can make it work and I've considered one of your wedges. But the fact is these boats aren't designed to make a surf wake like true dedicated V-drives.

I agree, you caught me before I edited it.

But I will say the Yamaha does a dang good job when fitted correctly.

Have you ever surfed behind and boat that had a wake wedge and was ballasted correctly?

I agree, you caught me before I edited it.[/QUOTE
Have you considered a group buy for the wedge? I would like to get one just a bit out of of my budget at the moment.

I have, one will be coming in the spring time.

Back top the topic at hand, I have surfed behind Tige's 21 ft and 23 foot ( which I really liked ) and centurion FX22, ( which didn't have the kind of wave I like ) so I agree with everyone saying every boat has its own wave.

Which wake the is the tournament boat or the yamaha???IMG_1446.JPG

Left is tournament. Right Yammi?

Yamaha can do ok , I like doing it all surf one weekend , take the boat on a long hall up the river for a weekend , , cruse the lake of the ozarks and do bar hopping with friends , ext sorry crapy pic image.jpg

@bobbie I saw your videos somewhere here as well (shot by the local news reporter?), so I know that wave behind your boat IS real. But, I still suspect some kind of manipulation of gravitational field.

@swatski. Well....I do have a magnetic personality!

I want to try this with my Yamaha, but the problem with the Yamaha is you have to have bags everywhere. On the seats, on the swim platform, etc. I really don't like the idea of that. I feel like the true wake boat guys would laugh at me when I passed by. Oh well, maybe one day.

I only have one bag on my seat , and if there are friends on board I don't need it :) And don't let the v-drive guys fool ya , they usually add more weight then they come with from the factory ;)

There's just no comparison. When my friend fills the ballast in his Wakesetter, the boat sinks a little over a foot in the water it seems. The rub rail ends up being just a few inches from the water. Then add the surf gate which is remote controlled.........dude forget about it. That wave is freakin huge. And if you want to switch sides just hit the button on the remote.
