might pull the trigger 242x

Quick opinion

I have an offer to buy the 242 E series (NON X) out the door for 65k
I also (as stated in this post) have an offer for a 242 X out the door for 70k

both of those numbers are AFTER sales tax

Any opinion on which direction to go?

I know the X has integrated ballast (which I would use) and a better stereo.

Which E series? Limited or Limited S? I assume you're looking at tower boats.

Limited S

I have to decide is 5k worth

Integrated ballast
Better Stereo
Graphics and some X markings
wake racks

Or, with the Limited S E Series you get a fresh water sprayer at stern, which I don't believe is on the X series

@Michael Rasmussen just to give you a point of comparison, I got a 242 Limited S E-series for 60k before tax but with all other fees added in, plus a snap cover and 5 year warranty. I looked at the X's too but figured I would do the upgrades later and probably for cheaper. It would also allow me to do custom ballast bags which I know others on here have done. Personally, I also like the Limited S E graphics (in black) as I think they are a more refined versus sporty look. But that of course that is personal preference.

I like the integrated ballast, but is it a good setup, meaning is the wake it produces, specifically for wake surfing good enough? Would a custom setup be better?

Same with the stereo, does the stock X stereo leave a lot to be desired or is it good enough?

Look at Pentagon Fed Credit Union. . . . .great rates. Did 2 cars through there in the 5 years.

You are getting a slightly bigger discount on the X (based on MSRP and dealer costs)...but not much.

The question is will you use the ballast and stereo?

Here is my two cents.
I don't know about the ballast - I like the fact that it's integrated with connext, but you can definitely do better with an aftermarket for their price, it would be a project though. I think the factory layout can definitely be better designed to get more storage space around it.
As far as stereo, forget about it -- you can do so much better yourself, not even funny.
Consider that the tower with the big bimini is relatively low as far as the crossbar. I love the big bimini, but the regular AR tower seems like it's a foot taller inside the boat.
Last but not least I would stay away from the new Seemat, or whatever they call it. I looked it up the other day in a new 2017 x, I think it's a disaster, IMO.

Julian, did you use the ballast? What is your take on the stereo

I have used the ballast a couple of times.....but twisting my knee put a halt to my wake surfing plans.

I love the stereo....its plenty loud enough for me.
