Moving Swim deck stereo....how to cover previous location.

That will not fit the space well. So far I'm thinking another table mount.
Could you somehow install a piece of plywood backer then glass it in and use spectrum paste to finish it off?

One of my ideas was to mount a subwoofer then take the cut out and make a piece the shape of the hole from the remote and feather in some some gel coat . Glad I went with the table mount it looks great and was fairly easy .The Marc 200 remotes were so cheap I purchased 3 of them mounted one in the bow one in the stern and kept one around as a replacement if needed down the road . I may take the third and mount it near the dash when we are wakeboarding or surf I like to keep the speed control page open on Connext . It’s not so easy to skip to the next song the remote has a button that makes it very easy .

Perhaps. The 'right' way to fix, I believe, would be to come from the back side, soak glass mat in epoxy, and bridge the gap from the back. Once that cures, lay some extra glass in the hole, then gelcoat. Now, I know that may not be the amount of work for which OP was looking... but if you are going to go to the trouble with a piece of plywood and attaching that without poking through, etc., I would probably just do the extra steps to do it fully right.

A few months we sold our home a little quicker than expected (a little less than 24 hours) which put us in a hotel for a month before our move to TN. Well in that month, with no house work to do, COVID closures and simply going bat crazy in a 1 room hotel room with my wife, one of our boys and the dog, I took the opportunity to finally install my ballast system after 5 years of saying "soon". Thanks to my wife and @Lawman25 for helping out. Apparently folks my size can't crawl or wedge into tiny spaces.

Anyhow, now that I am finally surfing behind my own boat, I am concerned about the stereo being submerged the entire time the boat is ballasted. I am going to move the swim deck unit from the bottom platform to the top platform next to the speaker. I am looking for ideas to cover the old location or use for some other purpose. I don't want it to look like an abandoned location or some odd patch. Please give you suggestions. Thx!

Do you have a photo of where it is on your boat so we can see exactly what you're working with?

So, you just took me on an adventure. I now know that out of all the hundred's of pics I have of the boat, there are very few of the back of the boat, but I did find a good one.

So I ended up ordering another table leg mount and covering the hole with it. Was a precise cover. I added a piece of pressure treated wood as a backer and sealed with clear silicone. However, I did not relocated the commander/remote unit. I simply eliminated it for now. We realize we never use it from the swimdeck. I will install it if I miss it or when I sell. Funny thing is I thought it was needed in order for the stereo to work. I don't believe I will be able to pair a phone (Bluetooth) without it, but what's already paired works still. Any ideas on what will not work?

The table support works great it has a backer plate and the fiberglass is thick just don't plan to have people dancing on the table . I did use some plywood to fill the hole during the install

@Cambo, what is the path of the cable from the swim deck to the helm? I may have to pull my ballast out and my battery separator to pull the cable out. Right now, I just wrapped it up and zip tied it ballast hose behind the speaker.

I've decided to mount the Wetsounds MC1 Head Unit adjacent to the Connext Screen on the Helm and have no use for the factory head unit as I will be running my stereo 100 percent independent of Connext. That said, I ran into the same problem as the OP. To solve it, I'm having a custom Name Plate cut out of aluminum and painted to cover the hole. I've posted a rendering below. Sotally Tober 5 should be complete this time next month. Excited to share some new and original mods....
