New Owner - 2018 242 Limited SE

I’m new here and about ready to upgrade to a Yamaha 242 we think. This is probably a dumb question to most of you but I’m gonna ask anyhow. What is the reasoning behind installing the Simrad if you’ve got moving map and info already? Or is the map function not adequate for some purposes? Maybe want it for fish finder use? Just curious before I purchase if anything I should be aware of regarding installed map and system. Maybe I should work install of Simrad in purchase? I’m all about gadgets, just need the justification for the extra expense! Anyhow, thanks in advance for any insight.

Congratulations. Welcome back to jet life. Cheers.

Awesome boat!!!

I plan to use Navionics with the Simrad so I can plan trips on my iPad at home, then download to the chart plotter. I'm not aware that the connext has that capability.

Just curious, how does the ride compare to the Cobalt?

She's a beauty!

Just installed the GO5 XSE in my new 242SE. Really nice piece of equipment for only $320. I did upgrade an old Navionics+ card to the Platinum+ to be able to get 3D and satellite overlays, etc.

Awesome upgrade! How many inches screen?

Super nice boat and setup! Congrats!

Thanks...it is a 5” screen. Would have preferred the GO7 but while it looks like it might just fit on the front there’s a bit more behind the dash panel that would have made a flush install difficult.
