New Tow Rig is in the driveway!

I ended up with the Limited. I wanted the full HD tow package which you could get on the XLT, but with a few options added on the XLT was about the same price as the Limited. Love it and awesome quiet ride too. A few extra bells and whistles too.

No custom exhaust. It has chrome tips on the exhaust. Maybe that is new this year. The 2015 does have the Ecoboost engine, which may have resulted in a different size and routing of the exhaust system. I haven;t compared.

The Ecoboost does have a bunch of giddy-up to it. Looking forward to getting it on the highway and getting a few more miles on her so I can get on it!!! :devilhorns:

Congrats on the new rig @biglar155 . I have 207k miles on my 2001 expy and it still runs and tows great. I'd buy another in a heartbeat of I had too but would opt for a non Eco boost model.

@biglar155 to get to Bluetooth quick just double tap the voice command button. After you here the ding just say "Bluetooth audio". Then you will be listening via Bluetooth. If you hit the button once the lady comes on and asks what you want to command. Just hit it twice real fast and skip her asking you.

Ecoboost is new for 2015 and the only engine available and it has been getting good reviews. Really wakes up the truck they say. Not that I can afford one if I want to get a boat. Just picked up a 2000 Excursion myself. @waterboy did you get the black or light interior?

Thanks @BigN8 ! I'm gonna try that.

That's the difference. I've got the 5.4L Triton. It's got the chrome tip as well but it's routed out behind the driver's side rear-wheel.

@Freezer41 it has the light interior. I wanted the black but couldn't find one available with what I wanted/needed which was a Limited EL in Silver or Magnetic that seats 8. Funny all the dealer ordered cars have the light interior. That whole tan/dark contrast interior is the rage now. It is oK and will grow on me over time I am sure.

My Expedition EL is Black on Black. In Upstate New York you would instantly destroy tan carpets as soon as winter hits. Not even an option in these parts (IMO).

Congrats guys!

as threatened, i was able to put together the deal I wanted on the ride I wanted. Just brought her home last night. Now I am itching to hook up the boat and go somewhere

Nice ride! So this is a '15 with the Ecoboost. I'm anticipating your towing review as soon as you get some miles on her. I know the engine is a great powerhouse in the pickup, but I'm curious about your mileage towing and nontowing and your speeds while doing both.

In a few years my wife will be ready for a new vehicle and she wants a SUV. If we're getting an SUV it's gonna have to have enough towing capacity to be able to handle the boat. It's either gonna be a Jeep Grand Cherokee with the Ecodiesel or Hemi. The Durango with the Hemi if we don't find a GC with a diesel or doesn't want a full size like the Expedition. My big hangup with full size suvs is the poor daily commute mileage. The new Expeditions with the Ecoboost has really got my attention because it could be the best of both worlds.

Regarding these big SUV's and towing mileage, etc... I will admit to being in a very fortunate position. My company pays me a nice car allowance, plus gas, so that helps take the sting off of the total cost of ownership of these beasts.

I am real curious to see what sort of mileage I get too. My towing commute is relatively short when we go to the lake, maybe 20 minutes. I am going to Bimini this year again, so I will have a long haul in July. I will report back for everyone.

Thats funny whenever I did a dealer search in my area, most of the limiteds were black interior. I think the light looks nice

I have the new Expedition with the Ecoboost as noted above. Just finished the trip towing from NC to Lauderdale to make the Bimini trip. The drive was right at about 12 hours each way for a total of about 1600 miles. Boat and car loaded down.

For this trip, I was able to get 11.6 mpg. Speeds were at 75 mph +/- most of the way. Due to the relatively flat roads I used Cruise Control for much of the drive too. No hunting on tranny and held speeds very well.

This truck tows like a dream. Very comfortable and very quiet drive, that made the 12 hours much easier on me. Plenty of power to move when I needed to.

As far as non-towing mileage, I have about 6000 miles on the truck so far. My average non-towing mileage is just below 19. Maybe a little heavier on highway miles but not by much. I will admit that I am not a heavy foot, although is is fun to lay into it sometimes.

We buys these big trucks for utility knowing mileage is not going to be great. I will admit to being thrilled with the mileage so far. I used to have a Sequoia and it ate the gas. So far, so good. I am an Ecoboost fan...

That's some great mileage. Being able to set the cruise while towing makes traveling so much easier. I use cruise all the time while towing with our diesel truck. I could have never dreamed of using cruise in our '01 gasser pickup we used to have. The technology and power in these new trucks is amazing! Glad y'all had a great trip to Bimini.
