And when you get back on Hwy 59 and head south look for the red "HOT" sign at Krispy-Kreme donuts!! (drooling)

The Yard Milkshake Bar just opened this spring. If you can get there early on a weekday you should try it. There has been a two hour wait on weekends.

@shane hric - keep an eye on the weather. We have a storm cluster that may be coming our way.

We'll end up with a good amount of rain no matter which way the storms head. Just plan accordingly and be safe.
With the extra rain look out for rip currents at the beach. Do a good google search and show the family how to identify a rip current and how to get out of one.

Any local plans for Memorial Day? All I know is that we will be on the boat --- grilling out somewhere.

I can taste the beer and smell the BBQ already!!

Definitely be on the water depending on the weather. Probably be at Robinson Island tucked in there somewhere so will find a way to visually mark my location.

Last year we went over to the Fort McKree area and grilled out over there. Didn't leave till almost dark.
It was the best trip of last season.

Count me in for fishing/Robinson Island. Plan to be there all weekend. Then taking the boat to Destin in June for a long weekend

Last season for me was horn island. water was so slick i put the hammer down and we both sat on the side of the boat. Absolutely beautiful out there on a calm day and getting into the blue water was nice. Like your own little private island with water so clear you could see the flounder pulling up.

@Blindduck - not to deviate too far from the this thread's location but can you give me some more info on your Horn Island adventure?
Where did you take off from? (I'm guessing at Pelican Point off of CR1)
How long was the trip? did you need to get fuel from Dauphin Island?
I'd like to do an overnight trip there - did ya'll stay late -- any problems? Worst case would be finding out that there are noseeums all over the place at dusk and have to leave at night.

On the holiday weekends we like to stay on the sand bars to the east of Robinson Island. They're less crowded.

We put in at pascagoula and went around by ingals shipyard. from there it’s a straight shot and about 7 miles. I could notmake a straight shot to it from we’re i launched the boat because of a railroad bridge that my T-top is to tall to fit under.

Well now it doesn’t look like i’m going to make the memorial day weekend out on the boat. It goes in the shop tomorrow. Starting acting up the other day with a rough idle and cutting out. Did everything i knew to it so going to give the dealership a shot. They said i should have it back before but no promises.
