Our New Baby, 2024 252SE 🎉

Sadly, today I winterized the boat. We’ve had cool weather, schedules suck, and the oldest is back in school. Oil changed, fogged the intake/cylinders, and treated the fuel. Fogging the intake is fairly easy by removing what looks like a breather tube off the intake tunnel past the air filter box. Accessing the air filter is pretty inconvenient, if I ever replace it I’ll have to take the rubber clamp off the one end and take the whole piece out to make life easier. Decided to attach blue tape to the negative and positive wires that go to the house battery so it’s easier to remember. Now I’ll live vicariously through all you southern folk who boat just about year round!

When you get a chance, please post a photo of the breather tube. Thx

I'll be boating in the Colorado River frequently (regularly 110°+). Should I stick with 10W-40 or go with 20W-40 as suggested in the manual?

Will do, I'll try to get in the boat this weekend and get a pic of it! Honestly if the manual says to use the 20W I would, but also you could consult with your dealer, or maybe someone will chime in who also boats in that hot of temp!

**Edit**
Below is a pic of the engine, the hose attaches from circled nipple to a nipple on the rubber connector that attaches the intake and air box together.

I’ll get better pics when I get in the boat again though!

Got another day on the water yesterday evening after the oldest got home from school. Water temp was still chilly at 77 degrees, but that didn’t stop me and the girls from jumping in!

Did some more decibel testing. Held my decibel meter in the middle of the boat beneath the windshield trying to make sure wind didn’t affect it. We only had a 5mph SE wind so perfect conditions. When we were using no wake mode level 1 it was 64 dBs. Cruising at 5,500 RPMs (31-32mph) I had 83 dBs. And then anywhere between 88-92 dBs at 7k RPMs (42mph).

We hung out in the cove for around 2.5 hours. Used the 12V electric high pressure pump we got off Amazon to fill up the sunchill, pretty nice you can set the psi you want and it’ll fill it up to that and shut off. We bought a mission reef mat that will come by tomorrow, so we are excited to try that the next time we go out!

Sorry to hear about your issues early on. We got a 2026 252SD in October. The Drive X interested my wife because she thought it would help her with driving it. I also tested the sound, but with an app on my iPhone, so I don't how well calibrated it is. At speed, somewhere between 5000 and 6000 rpm, I was getting 88 - 95 db, so seems close to what you got. I had my phone in the phone mount that is below the windshield. Do you have a link for that particular pump you bought?

Even if we went with the SD my wife has no desire to learn to captain the new boat! 😂😂
Coming from an AR230 was very noticeable on our ears so we are extremely happy!

Below is a link to a similar pump since the one we bought isn’t in stock anymore!

Same. I need to get my wife to drive it at speed where it is easier to maneuver to boost her confidence first.

Thanks for the link.

Starting the boating season at 34.4 hours. Truck is around 184k miles. Cleaned the boat inside and out, seafoam added, and will fill up tomorrow in Missouri before we get on the water. The kids are excited, but we will see how they like the water since I’m not sure it’s reached 70 degrees yet. 😂

Looks like 20W-50 for the Africa hot temps on the Colorado..

We had our first check engine light come on as we were about to anchor in a cove. Port engine bucket was stuck in forward gear. I didn’t panic, and remembered my jet boat forum training. Shut the boat off, anchored, and then got in the water and jiggled not one but both buckets for good measure. After we left the cove the CEL had cleared itself.

Due to all the rain there’s a lot of junk in the water, guessing something small got lodged in the bucket somehow.

About 42ish hours on each engine now, and no other issues, crack on!

I fully expected your next sentence to say, "Shut the boat off, immediately ordered a NOCO battery smart charger, swam to shore to meet Amazon delivery guy, and my problem was sovled."

Actually I had a 600W power station in the boat and plugged my already installed NOCO charger into that to make sure it wasn’t battery voltage demons 😂

Dang, you really did listen to your jet boat forum training. 😂
What do you use your 600W power station for?...other than giving yourself random bouts of shore power when you get a potential electrical glitch?
