So two of the last three times I was out on the river, the starboard side engine overheat light came on. I turned it off, checked the port clean outs (nothing there) and had checked the oil before departing out. And checked the pissers throughout the time out and they were doing their thing. Each time after doing these checks and waiting about 5 minutes, I started her up and the light was off and didn't come back on.
Last Saturday, it came on, Sunday, it did not, Tuesday, it came on again. So it's intermittent and it's only the starboard side.
One time out the water was choppy and I thought there wasn't enough water getting to the intake. The second time, this past Tuesday, the water was like glass and we were pretty much alone out there so we were tubing, running hard. On the way in, I was cruising at 35-40 (it was getting dark) and that's when the light came on. Any ideas on what could be causing this? Is there a service manual produced that could help me find some troubleshooting for this. Really scratching my head on this one.
