Rear Folding seats/deck opinions?

So after seeing just how poorly designed Chaparrals 243 folding passenger seat hinge is, Im starting to wonder about the Scarab folding Rear deck. Can anyone who has a Scarab answer a few questions:

Is folding the seats from position to position difficult or easy?

How comfortable is lying on the top (When they are folded flat like a deck)? Is it long enough? to comfortably lie down on and sunbathe?

Are the hinges sharp? Any risk of having a foot slip down and get messed up?

And lastly, how good is that middle walkthrough? Can you really walk on it without worrying about puncturing it?

@Brendon Let me try to answer your questions best I can...

On the Scarab, if you buy a new one... The seats, and mechanism actually works best when its broken in. Its a little tight at first, but then slides like butter. There are actually 6 positions the rear seats can form into.

I can tell you the seats are comfortable, and not too stiff when in the seating position. My wife and daughter say the seats in the laying down position is soft, and you don't feel the indentations too much. As far as length, its big enough for us, but we are all vertically challenged people,lol.

The hinges are visible, but tucked away. Round edges, but you will never touch them. They are deep into the edges of the cushions.

Lastly,

The first run 2014 195 have a center walk through with darker colored vinyl that is pretty tough, but in the 2015 model year, they incorporated the Kevlar like fabric that the 215 had. It extremely rugged, and will take the abuse. You can actually purchase the center coushion for the 2014 models that don't have it for cheap.

Hey mike have you had any problem with the seats. I had a tear in the rear passenger seat. Worried the vinyl will tear easily. I bought this repair kit at west marine gonna see how it works out.

Not at all. We give the vinyl hell also with little toddlers running around. You may be able to get a new one under warranty. Cant hurt to ask.

I'll see how the kit works. Just nervous it might be a problem

It shouldn't be. If it tore at a seam, don't attempt to repair it. That may void your claim to get a new one.

If anyone needs or wants to replace the center walkthrough cushion with the newer Kevlar fabric one, the part# is (p/n 135-90623) $496.00 and unfortunately you have to use a 2015 Scarab vin/serial number.

That's a lil pricey. I like that style of walk thru cushion. I seen one on a 215 at the louisville boat show. It's a nice upgrade.

What about a rattle?? The salesman said they did away with the flat seating because too many peeps complained about a rattle when in the flat position n moving??? Has anyone heard this rattle....

The rattle is because if the bolts coming loose. I love mine. Very easy fix.

Seats were a little 'sticky' when new but are getting better after a season and seem to be willing to slide into position better and better.

I'm 6'2" and it's plenty comfortable to lay on top of when folded down with another person.

Hinges are not sharp at all!

Walk way is very nice and the seat texture gives you a nice solid grip on your wet feet.

Does anyone know how to get the seat bracket for the Versa Lounge option (rear seats lay down)? If not a picture of their bracket? I am thinking I would like to modify my rear seat brackets with a slot to allow the seats to lay down. Chime in if you have any ideas!
