Smart home, do you have one?

I use the Honeywell wifi thermostats in both homes. They control both heat and A/C. with free smartphone app it's very easy to use. For the hot water storage tanks off of the gas boilers I just installed a small low voltage switch (Radio Shack) on top of the water heater to interrupt the thermostat wire. I turn it off before leaving one house for the weekend and turn it on when arriving at the weekend house. Yes, the hot water tank switches are manual but who jumps out of the car and into the shower? Cameras at primary residence are IP cameras with night vision going to a DVR. They are motion capable with email capability. The DVR runs about a 35 day loop. I use it to monitor the property and in ground pool.

To stir this up again.....Since this thread I've purchased and installed a fare share of these Foscam cameras. The prices are dropping as new models arrive.

@Murf'n'surf others with the Foscam. Any of you experiencing issues with these after a while ? A couple of mine don't give motion alerts anymore even tho the settings state its set "on".

A new line of cameras by AMCREST, which is a FOSCAM technology looks decent, but the APP isn't shared !!! its separate.....why they do that ?

My shed got broken into and raped over the weekend.....need additional cameras now !

Mine all work fine with the exception that they dont have an option to turn off the stupid reminder email about the memory card being full every 6 hours.

Perhaps you can try a factory reset and rebuild the settings?
