Speedometer lag

Hey folks, first post, long time hiding deep in the shadows. I recently bought a 2014 ar192 with 17 hours on the engine. I've noticed the speedo seems to lag quite a bit behind actual speed (seconds to even register I'm moving much less speed changes). The paddle wheel spins smoothly. Is this typical behavior of the boat or do I potentially have a bad speedo wheel.

On my SX195 the speedo does take a bit especially from going at wake speed to on plane and beyond. I have also found it is hit or miss in how accurate it is (after comparing to GPS speedo). It is usually within a few MPH of the GPS, but sometimes a little above or a little below. I think it is fairly normal so I wouldn't put too much weight into especially if the wheel spins free and appears pretty balanced. Use a phone GPS speed app next time you're out to have a secondary reading. If the speedo is way off it might be something work looking at but if its off by a few MPH in either direction I wouldn't worry too much.

I have a GPS speedo on my chart plotter and then for redundancy I have the Navionics app on my phone. You can probably find any number of speedo apps on your phone for free, hell I think Instagram or Snapchat can even do it.
