I heard that! I travel with my boat a lot so having the quick release I believe would come in handy when I'm traveling to prevent someone from stealing them! My buddy had his stolen off the boat in Florida last year at the hotel. Didn't take anything else....just the wake racks... lol

Man I despise thieves. Ya if you do travel and leave your boat outside like that, I would def get the quick release too. I've been looking for good quality racks without breaking the bank. I think I will get quick release too for the times we travel. Just so pricey for what they are.

Of the two I would take swivel racks all day, especially if you tie up to other boats! If not you better have some larger diameter bumpers or a ball to place in between the boats and even then it can get real close to the towers hitting when rollers come by.

@DBamaC uses these kids balls when we tie up as his racks don't swivel. They work perfect if you don't mind the looks heh

Yes sir. Swivel is a must for me! That's what making the whole purchase pricey. Swivels added brings up the cost a bit.

Air temp in the low 80's. Shasta Lake April 25th 2018. Lots of floating wood on the lake and launch ramps.

My son checking the water temperature which was 66F.

I spent about an hour getting the boat ready today. It has been sitting in the side yard covered since October. I started it twice over the winter. I kept a small boat cabin heater in it all winter to prevent mold which I had two years in a row. This time the boat was clean and shiny.

- I removed the boat cover
- I put the carpets back in
- Checked and added a little oil.
- Topping off the battery.
- Charged the jump box battery
- Installed the rear view mirror
- Put the life jackets back in the boat.
- Lubricated and installed the clean out plugs.
- Lubricated the pumps
- Checked the anchor and dock lines
- Printed a fresh copy of my boat prep list
- Started the engines and ran them for 30 seconds
- Charging the 12V battery in the boat pusher
- Checked the transom plug

Tomorrow
- Check trailer tire pressure
- Check Boat Buckles
- Check the safety strap and winch strap.
- Go for a ride on the lake!

I have no use for winter. To me winter is a waiting period between boating seasons. Glad it's over.

It's 84 degrees out now at 4pm Apr 23. My kind of weather.

In the next few weeks I'll change the oil and filters, perhaps the spark plugs too. I haven't changed the plugs since spring of 2016. They are iridium and I see no sense in replacing them if they are still performing.

Shasta Lake is only 12 feet from the top. For this huge lake that is pretty much full.

We've only been up to 56 with 90% fuel and 6 ppl on board, oh and a little over 12 hours since purchase of the boat. We are loving it, we've done a lot of researching and comparing between Yamaha, Chaparral and Scarab and decided with Scarab all the way.

I went all the way to the north end of the lake where it's more like Willy Wonka chocolate factory water. Lots of debris and wood so I turned around and went back to cleaner greener waters


Found a place with some waterfalls trickling down the rock faces. I'll call it weeping walls lol


Back down on the southern end of the lake where it's clearer waters

Very nice. Quick release are overrated if they swivel. But if you do store that beautiful boat outside I do see why one might want quick release. Not sure about you all but my baby stays inside with security. Lol
