Tablet for Nav Question

And you can download your map, so you don't actually need cell signal, just gps.

I haven't had a problem seeing my screen.

My s8 active on a suction cup ram mount did great on way to and from Bimini. Tucked under my tinted windshield a bit and saw it fine. Also installed navionics on wifes phone and a 10" tablet we stashed under a seat as a precaution. Phones now are mostly water resistant and i am using the s8 active now to write this 2 years later.
I plan on using multiple devices again next year if covid allows a bimini visit for us.
*edit* put phone in airplane mode which cuts off all cell and wifi and it ran navionics+ beautifully. Just turned airplane back off at hotel to post pictures to family.

I haven't had a problem seeing my screen.
The xe you have has a larger bimini and my aftermarket aerial tower has a big one as well so we probably get the screen in the shade at times as well which may help. Just brainstorming

Here is a screenshot coming out of my last trip out. I was able to use the track feature of Navionics without renewing g my subscription. Some features were missing but it still did what I wanted (I don’t need directions to Or from old Sacramento on the river, their is only one river that passes through it). Also attached is a pic of my dash yesterday, as you can see, I found my other ram products (once upon a time a rammed out).

Once you purchase the Navionics App can you use it on different devices, or can you use it with multiple devices at the same time?

I share my login with a friend that I boat with regularly, and I use it on my phone to plan routes/trips. Any routes I make on my phone will sync to both our tablets.

If you have an android phone just use DEX you can transmit to any tablet or a windows pc / tablet if you like. That way you are still only using your phones wireless and don't need another plan.

Dex seems to be a Samsung thing, unless you're referring to something else.

for those of you using tablets (samsung or ipad), are they bright enough (as bright as a newer phone)? the biggest issue with the android tablet i have (off brand from amazon) was the screen not nearly bright enough...

I use a Samsung Galaxy Tab A purchased from Costco, unlocked. I have zero issues with the screen brightness, in fact, at night, I have to dial down the screen brightness to almost nothing so that I'm not blinding myself. If you're having issues with being able to see your screen, perhaps make a shade for it? You could look for one specific to your tablet, but really, just some cardboard would allow you to see if that solves the issue for you, and if so, fashion a more permanent solution. Here's a few I found, and they seem to be made for drone displays as well as tablets, so I'm thinking you might be able to find something to fit your tablet
