Texas Boating

Oh, goodness. It looks like I may need to make it out to Lake Travis, then...

I spent some time on Travis at Devil's cove in my earlier years. Back then was a big party..not sure if it's still going on. Almost submarined a pontoon boat one time on the way back to the dock when we hit some large rollers from a yacht passing by (I wasn't piloting at the time).

Until last year used to boat on Lake Austin and there were a couple spots that people would party (near 360 bridge and across from Hula Hut). Lake Austin can get crazy busy during the weekends...almost to the point it's dangerous to do any watersport.

Now live right next to Lake Belton which I've been exploring. Nice lake and relatively not busy. Mostly see bass boats but every now and then you see a wakeboard boat running around.

Agree, avoid Lake Austin on the weekends but if you have a chance to go in the middle of the week it's hard to beat. Hardly any boats and the water is glass. On busy Lake Travis weekends its best to head up stream to the Pace Bend Park area where it is less crowded.

I live in Point Venture, a small village on Lake Travis, not far from Emerald Point Marina. Keep my boat in a slip here, and know this lake like the back of my hand. It is a crown jewel of Texas lakes, so you picked a good one. The lake level does vary a lot because it's a flood-control reservoir, but right now at this moment is two feet above full.

We have a floating restaurant in our village, currently being completely re-done, y'all will have to come check it out. Any questions, let me know, been boating on this lake for years.

I'm so jealous!

I'm so jealous!

Lol, thanks. I've always dreamed of living ON the lake, i.e. lakefront, but finally figured out I just can't afford that. So I live about 1/4-mile from it, get 99% of the benefit of living ON it, at half the price. 5 minutes to the lake-front private park and boat ramp, or 5 minutes to the marina via golf cart, lol.

Well that's awesome. I could only dream of living that close. No wasting gas on truck to go boating, just a click away from home if some unfortunate event happened on the water. Congrats as you made a great decision. I bet you have many peaceful nights out there. So so jealous lol. I need to step my game up and save for a lake house hehe.
