Think I'm going to stay with my Yamaha

Hey you guys...buy your second boat first!

Are these boats heavily discounted like some others? I was at a boat show and I really liked the new regal 2800 and its was like 155k they came down to 108k almost instantly and I wasn't even a serious buyer.

With a boat like that, you would need to spend at least $80K on the tow vehicle to avoid looking mis-matched in the parking lot.

@elcue there is often much more wiggle room in these kind of boats than a Yamaha, especially if you buy in an "off" time.

@LTM1964 - NO DOUBT! It's not just needing a purdy looking truck, when you get into X-26 range, these boats are getting so heavy you are wise to upgrade to a 3/4 or 1 ton tow vehicle...and then you need to bling it out with fancy rims and such to match the trailer!

Pretty crazy how much stuff is optional on that boat. If the optional tower is $14K, I wonder what the standard one looks like? "Comfort & Convenience package"? Really makes me appreciate my MB at less than 1/3 the price! Obviously, though, I'm not the buyer this boat is after. Around here, I picture that buyer as somebody with a nice house with a pier and boathouse on Lake Tahoe.

Here in the SF Bay Area the sales tax would be about $20k or 10% of the sales price so the $10k rebate isn't $hit. $14k for a tower, I spent less for a new roof for my house. If I could afford that boat I'd buy a small undeveloped island around here and build a house with a pier on it instead.

For those that are impressed with the logo and brand I've found a cheaper way to get yourself a Mastercraft:

Our boats are a lot closer looking then my Hyundai which I've rebadged to a Bentley.

Makes that Mako 234 I'd love to have look a lot more reasonable. And it's price is an outrage.

After being on a few of these types of upper level wake boats, I think it's pretty easy to see and feel some quality differences over the Yamaha's, but the additional markup seems to be extreme even considering the differences. I would be interested to see actual production costs of a wake boat vs. a similarly sized Yamaha?

Ya it's a rip off. Besides serious surfing it doesn't make sense. And how many professional surfers/wakeboarders out there really. I always think its funny when I go to beaches/coves and see all the Master Crafts floating and hanging out all day. I'm like 100k plus to sit at a cove. Yup I'll do that all day with a roomy Yamaha. Plus seems the girls dig the yammis more now days as I've been told ;)
