Ouch! Hope you got a better deal than what it says. Where we stayed on Clam it was $1400 a week and slept at least 8, granted it’s not lakefront but had access to lake with a dock to use.

No we paid that. More than I should have paid, but in the end it was great. I am going to look on Clam Lake for next time though...

I’ll get the link to where we stay from the wife & post Pretty happy with the place & the owners seem to be our age with children so they can relate to our needs. They keep in touch and try to help us with any extra needs. They even supply an oversized wagon like from a plant nursery to take all the gear to and from the boat.

We rented a house on Torch this past August for 1 week and loved it. House was about $3k, came with 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, dock (but not for a boat), mooring ball, etc. In total there were 7 of us and we all had a great time. Torch is a Great Lake in a great area. Mooring ball was new to me but it worked fine to be honest. Was a little worried when a storm rolled in and it got nasty but no issues. This gives you an idea of what we did. Wouldn’t hesitate to go back.

Definitely want to use the mooring ball if staying on Torch Lake. I thought I'd be fine with docking the pontoon only to come out one morning to windy conditions with whitecaps and heard a terrible grinding noise. My fenders had popped up on the dock and the pontoon was grinding up against the dock, looked like for quite a while. Some serious dock rash on the rear corner of the boat. Lesson learned!! That's one of the reasons we like staying on Clam Lake, smaller lake and out of the wind. Anywhere up there isn't a bad place, just depends on what your plans are.

Where at on Torch is that place?

Just north of Alden about 1 mile or so. great location...only downside was no real beach at the house. Walk out the dock and it's all sand and good to go from there.

It's official, we're headed back to the Clam Lake house next summer. Wife just told me to pencil in August 1-8. We'll definitely be heading up the Grass River during our time up there along with going to the northern end of Torch and maybe going to Elk Rapids as well.

Did you guys book 8/1-8/8 for sure? We just booked a house on the Grass River 8/9-8/16. A ton cheaper than the place we rented last summer, and closer to Torch.

Did anyone see the video of the total mess on the Torch River Earlier this month?? My wife just showed it to me. Boats running into each other, running into docks, operators that had no clue. Holy crap is all I could say. If it’s that bad while I’m up there, were fueling up right when they start pumping fuel In the morning and avoiding the river after.

It's just people being drunk a-holes and not knowing how to drive a boat. I'll be up there in a month and report back!!
