Used Boat Prices

I just looked up our 1991 Beneteau First 35s5 on NADA. I have known that this boat has gone up in value since we purchased her in 2018. Been watching it's value go up since. Obviously some of it is due to the work I have done but the market is just crazy now. Her value has nearly doubled after I checked all the relevant boxes from our purchase price. Original suggested retail was $85,600 in 1991.

Seeing prices coming down on newer used Yamaha boats in the area.

Prices on RV’s are coming down as well as there a lot of units coming up for sale.
Prices on other power sports equipment were steady at “ludicrous“ but I expect those to be falling soon as well. All of these toys take fuel, and lots of folks cannot afford to use them. I’m at a dealer in Bismarck getting the valves checked / adjusted, I’ll enquire about the pricing there.

And going back up.......... Wow. 2022 Yamaha AR210 on Facebook for $58,500 no upgrades. Barely 1 hour on it.

With the healthy increase in prices today, It may pull up the used boat prices.

From a Boat Test email from a week ago…

I don’t see this in the jetboat market

While it’s in a different segment I think it is a trend that will spread throughout most segments of boating. I think there are several factors coming together, supply chain pipelines filling up, supplies of raw materials becoming more readily available, inflation rates exceeding real wage gains, fuel prices, inventory levels coming back up, other recreational opportunities available again-the lack of recreational opportunities over a couple of years drove a fair amount of sales.

I think supply.is so constrained in the new market it all doesn't matter a ton. As long as you almost can't buy a new boat, used ones will be high. Once that supply improves, they'll come down, but only to a % of new boat prices. So if a 3 year old used boat was 50% the price of a new one (those are purely made up numbers), while that may have put the boat at 30k in 2019, it's gonna be 40k+ in 2023. The dollar has just lost so much value in the past years of calamity, your purchasing power has gone down by a lot.

c'mon....... I should just list mine for 60k with trolling motor, batteries, Garmin, and a big hug.......... Can't believe what some are listing for.... ? $55k?

Or, I could buy this one for the same money, with a trailer:

I am really curious why the leaf springs where changed. He lives no where near salt and only has 60 hours.

In the RV market the towables are now in glut territory and prices have turned significantly. The motorized class A, B, C RVs are still a somewhat tight market because of supply chain. Seems similar to boats.

Seeing ALOT of yamaha's used for sale around here. Prices are coming down more. Plus with new Yamaha's showing up at the dealerships I am hearing that they are not all being sold. My prediction is that there will be a surplus of new and used boats this winter and going into spring. I am thinking a buyer's market.

A buyer whom is ready to move could definately good a decent deal on a used one right now.
