Water Spot Remover

@Scuba_ref I love the smell of the Hot Sauce. Lol.

@txav8r I waxed the boat when I first brought it home last year, then had the good success with the Hot Sauce, so I really didn't know better. You just changed my Friday from boat waxing day to boating day! Thanks!

I was using Vinyl Sauce in the boat and didn't like the smell, guess I'll have to take a whiff of the Hot Sauce and see if it is different.

And I only use micro fiber cloths on my boat... @txav8r is soooo right about that!

@Scuba_ref I'll have to warn you... it smells like vinegar. It's a strange thing, but my wife likes the smell of it too.

Both the Vinyl Sauce and Hot Sauce have different, but distinctive scents. I don't find them offensive at all, but of course different scents bother different people. You may want to try Babe's Boat Seat Care. It's another good product and the scent of that appears to be less and it may not bother you.

@Bill D thanks for the warning...I think that is the smell that I didn't like in the Vinyl Sauce, I never could put my finger on it but you nailed it.
@SCSTWG thanks for the advice...I may look into that.

How long does a 32oz bottle of hot sauce typically last?

I use Hot Sauce and buy it by the gallon. I works amazing on black and water spots. I use our used beach towels that get washed we when get home. It does smell bad so watch the wind when spraying.

@DJMattyT I used it at least once per week last season and went through less than half a bottle. We spray the boat good with water then lightly mist with the hot sauce. Maybe 5 or 6 sprays per side. When the boat is wet a little goes a long way.

I also bought the gallon size and at this rate it will last me ten years. Haha

The key to hot sauce is to use it sparingly, but even still, I end up using maybe 2 quarts (half gallon) a year, and I buy it by the gallon now. But I have two quart bottles I bought first for the sprayer, which is a good sprayer, and I refill them. You save a bunch of sauce if you mist the boat with water directly in front of whoever is misting the sauce.

Wait a minute, you guys say you DON"T like the smell of Hot Sauce? Something must be wrong with me because I love it.

I'm a believer in hot sauce and their vinyl cleaner too.

Our usual cleaning routine is to start once we get off the lake and are in the marina. We have a little over a mile to travel in no wake zones, so the crew gets started with the Hot Sauce/Seat cleaner. By the time we get to the slip, the boat is clean for the next outing.

Since the boat sits in the slip all summer, I also give it a good through detail as well.

I hadn't thought it hot sauce on the car...now I'll have to get a bottle for the garage....

Yep you hit it on the head :). I still field questions about it. And still use the Hot sauce on a regular basis

20160329_113650.jpg Weather got cold quick last year so we were unable to wash the boat before we put it away. Pulled it out last weekend washed it and hot sauce it and look at it. There's no wax on her yet. Haven't waxed her in 2 years

@mattschepker Matt, you really laying on the ground for the photo shoot?? such a pro...

I boat in Texas with very hard water. Vinegar/Water appears to be the obvious (inexpensive)choice but can remove your wax. I've read in other places that people mix vinegar/water/spray-on wax. I wonder if that is basically what hot sauce is? I'm going to give it a try this weekend.

I'm with @txav8r ...

I used to spend hours upon hours waxing and re-waxing, only to see it wear off within two-three outings. Same with my vehicles. Tried all kinds of different polishes, waxes from high end to low end, with the ultimate high end being the Zaino line of synthetic polishes. While I really like the result on these, they just don't last like I'd like, especially on a black boat (black attracts more heat from the sun, gets hotter faster, and breaks down the wax almost instantly it seems... also have a large black SUV.) Not to mention the interesting things found in our river water (farm runoff) that melts right through pretty much any protective polish/wax that may have been on there as well.

Now, I do a full cleaning of the boat typically every 2 weeks, and Hot Sauce after every washing and after *most* outings. I get the exact same result with the Hot Sauce in probably 1/12 of the time (typically takes me 15 minutes to properly hot sauce the hull). Again, black boat, shows every water spot... Hot Sauce takes care of it all and leaves a glossy, like new, protected and slick surface.

I use it on my cars now exclusively as well... and haven't touched an official wax or polish product in two years. Since it's so much easier to do it regularly, I think it actually provides better protection than waxing 2-3 times a year... I know there is a decent level of protection after each ~15 minute Hot Sauce application, and my vehicles (boat & cars) always bead water and shine like no other product I've ever used pretty much 100% of the time now.

Alright, I'll have to give this stuff a try! Thanks for the very informative review.

I just started using Hot Sauce a few weeks ago. I couldn't believe how easily it removed water spots on my black boat that I had been trying to remove for two years. The smell doesn't really bother by but I do find myself craving a salad after using it.
