We took her off the sales floor! And a huge shout out for St. Charles Boat and Motor

For towing, I use the clear traffic area carpet protector from home depot anywhere that I think the cover might chafe the boat. I also put it on the front of the boat to help with avoiding stone chips on a long haul. Wax before you put it on and take it off as soon as you get to your destination. Try a small section to see if it works ok for you first.

Funny you said that!
Of course I have already been snooping around the bilge!

Found a couple of things, for now:

1. Lots of post production shavings and debris, even screws at the bottom of the bilge. I was cleaning around the drain from the outside with 303 and could feel some shavings in the drain plug threads and on the inside; discovered the bottom of the keel (inside) was basically full of debris... ended up just vacuuming it with shop vac through the access hatch.

2. Found the drain inside the swim platform compartment blocked. Couldn't figure it out...! All connections were okay but I could not clear it with my steel cable probe... Until I discovered the hose they use is WAY too long and kinks in half like a foot under the cleanout deck.... I ran out of time to fix it tonight.

Which drain are you referring to @swatski ? Do you mean where the plugs are, under the swim platform lid?

Late to the party here but for the first year, every time I would drain my bilge there was an assortment of construction particulates that came out. By the end of that season no more.

Transom drain, outside, the one that used to be two drains.
I vacuumed probably a couple of cups of volume worth of shavings from inside (the aft) of the keel, but stuff still washes off of the bilge floor couple months later.
Like Julian said, it tends to jam the threads on that outside plug.

I even got the knockouts from the through hull cuts in the bilge. Even today I get something once in a while.

How does one access the hull from the inside? I am talking way down deep in the articulating keel, where that drain plus is.

Through the hatch between clean out plug holes.

Signed the papers today on the 242 LS at St Charles Boat and Motor. Will be picking up the boat on Saturday. Tick tock....clock is moving slow... :-)

Couldn't get a photo since they pulled it off the showroom floor already. This one is from their website.

I was hoping that boat was going to be left for me

We saw the same boat at Texoma a few weeks a go. Loved it and makes me want a new boat.

That is a beauty, very classy looking boat!

Looks like you are leaving them with an empty lot!

Nope....I left a bright yellow Monterey there in trade :)

I'm sure the 2017's will be there soon.

Spent about 3 hours with Jerry this afternoon and pulled home. Applied 303 to all the seats and a coat of wax.

Extremely happy with this purchase. Off to Carlyle tomorrow to get that break in done.

Congrats.....Really like the gray!

Beautiful.
And a nice city funded garage to keep it in. Nice:)

Swatski,

Any regrets getting the 24'? We are considering going bigger but I was leaning more towards the 21' as behind the window the boats seem pretty similar in size. Also how is the 24' for skiing? I would even consider a 195 if they could put some sound dampening and figure out how to put the radio by the driver. As my 190 is a great boat but with the boys growing I think I need more power (I'm not one to do modifications, I would prefer to buy it and use it). One main reason is at this point I don't have the time to do the modifications. Any thoughts on what will pull a skier up faster a 195 or a AR210? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You are right when you say the boat seems similar from the windshield back, I have a 21 and was considering a 24 but with no added cabin space and pretty much all the extra being in the bow I left without buying. The 21 is the sweetspot for me
