I use Spotify and Google play all access for music. Both let you download any song in their catalog for $8 or $10 a month. Google Play's streaming quality isn't as high as Spotify, which is why I keep it around.
I would highly recommend not doing any form of illegal downloading. IT IS WAY TOO EASY TO TRACK NOW A DAYS.
Let's just say I work for a law firm and let's just say said firm has a department that does nothing but sue people over illegal downloads. Porn mostly, but music and video games are soon to follow.
$40k can buy a lot of music and porn...it's just not worth using a shared site for download, IMHO.
I was an Apple user for my phone, I just got a HTC One Harmon Kardon edition. I love this thing. The speakers are freaking awesome!!! I like how they are at the top and bottom of the phones face. And I can hear 100x better while talking on a call. I am still getting use to all of the features and customizable options on it. But so far it's been great...
I agree with Julians reasons posted a few pages back, for choosing Android over Apple. I just picked up an unlocked GS5 Active and am amazed by all the features! Its much faster then my GS3 and the battery life is awesome.
Samsung Galaxy Note 3 here. I had iPhones up until I got this Galaxy. I got tired of waiting on Apple to come out with a bigger screen with more storage. My wife and kids are still Apple users and that's ok. Both kids have ipad minis and my phone is half it's size and it fits in my pocket just fine. It's very slim and lightweight for its size. I still have an ipod that I use for music though. I have some music on my phone that I've gotten from the Google play store. I mainly listen to music on my phone through Pandora or the iHeartRadio app.

So in other words, you're they guy to call when these guys need representation once they get caught. . . . . . Unless your firm is the representing the plaintiff, as that would be a clear conflict. = )
Android. I won't touch Apple products. It integrates perfectly with my google accounts, not locked down, etc.
Best bang for the buck Android? Whatever is the current iteration of the Google Nexus phone... currently the Nexus 5. Pure Android from Google, no bloat, and you'd have to spend a few hundred more to get comparable specs from another phone.
I have only owned Android devices simply because my work pays for them. Work does not support the I devices but employees can purchase them using their own money. I cannot justify spending hundreds of dollars when I can get an Android phone/tablet for free.
Really wish you could take the hardware to either platform. I think Apple rules the land of apps and IOS but Android (Samsung) owns the best hardware title.
I use an iPhone 5s for personal use and Galaxy S5 for work. I kept an iPhone for personal use because my extended family is on iPhones and we all iMessage together in a large chat. Android doesn't handle group chat as well as iPhone - or at least it didn't use to. Plus my dad didn't have unlimited texting at one point in time and by having an Android phone in a group chat made it a text chat vs iMessage.
That's all out the window now with unlimited texting and I'm trying to decide what to do with my pending personal phone upgrade now that iPhone has a larger screen. I kind of like Android and the Galaxy phone better. Mainly because it is open, I can expand memory and replace the battery myself.
As for the Macs just work. I've owned a MacBook Pro for 6 or 7 years and several work laptops on Windows. I've never found one to be much better or worse than the other. The Mac had updates all the time, just like Windows. It needed to be rebooted, patched, etc. etc. etc. I really found it no different than a PC - but I did find myself having to Google how to do certain things on the Mac that I knew how to do on the PC. The new 2 in 1 PCs will be my next purchase. They're half the price of a Mac (even the air), have touch screens and can flip around and sit on my lap in touchscreen only mode if I want to sit and browse this forum in front of the TV. I don't believe Apple makes a touchscreen Macbook yet.
It's kind of like the ad where Android compared their features from 2 years ago to the those of the new iPhone 6 and they said they've had all those features for years.....
