YouCaring Contributions for Speedling and his family

You guys are amazing!
Just to let you donors know i did purchase a quad cane (think the old man in the movie "up" and obviously meds. Still waiting on the big bills but i am hoping my insurance tackles most of it.

Curious what mods you have planned for the cane?

Lol my daughter has one of those cheap snap bracelets she keeps putting on it
One of my buddies says i need the tennis balls on bottom
I think if i ever want to take it boating it will need a noodle mod to make sure it floats!

Donated! Best Wishes to Lee's family.

You guys are all crazy awesome! My wife sits me down to write some of the thank you's from the donation site because she is so overwhelmed! It's amazing the help different communities give. I can only hope to help others again as I was able to before. Physically I am getting stronger and more coordinated every day. I am off the prozac which was really screwing up my head but they had me on it because it supposedly gives 20% faster motor recovery. Now it's a matter of my head clearing. I hope with less meds my mind clears up. In my one therapy session I had a hard time doing some 1st grader type things. The therapist says it probably isn't medication and is how my brain is percieving things and how to react to them. She said I am doing awesome for the damage done and that it will take a good bit of time but I can get much much better. It's now less of a zombie/drunk feeling and now more of a computing error feeling. Sounds aren't crisp and clear. I get frustrated doing some simple tasks but thankfully logic still reminds me I had a stroke. If I can recognize problems, I can work on them. I just am glad, and so are my therapists, that I am willing to admit when I have issues.
The physical therapists joked with me about the cane. He was like, why are you carrying that around? He put me on the treadmill and said lets walk for 6 minutes. After 3 minutes he was just like, ok, this is pointless, you can walk. lol.
One of the things of coming OFF of prozac is that I had insomnia. When I would wake I would just pace, lol.
Typing this on the computer now which is something I couldn't do when I first got home. Not how it used to be as a natural feeling kinda thing (I have a BS in computer science) but decent enough!
Now if I could start playing computer games will be set! lol
Thanks again to all you contributors and if you ever meet me in person let me know you helped but expect a hug!

@Speedling, that is by far the longest and best written post you have made since the stroke. I am glad you are progressing so well!

Done. And @Speedling, tell your wife no thank yous needed - just send us all updates that you're improving, and pictures of how you're going to mount the tower speaker on the quad cane!

PS: the prozac - brought back memories of my torn ACL - sounds crazy but thanks for the laughs. There's a picture of me in bed smiling and I have NO recollection of any of it, but my daughter says she's still disappointed my wife didn't let her tape the gibberish I was saying. And that was after just one.

God bless!

Those of us who know Lee know that he works very hard to provide for his young family. He is in the masonry business so physical labor provides for his income. Eight days ago he suffered a stroke on his 34th birthday. He is recovering well but will be off work for several months.

His family has established a YouCaring account at https://www.youcaring.com/leecolvin-796778. I was privileged to be able to be the first to contribute. I hope that we, his boating friends, will be able to help to relieve some of the stress that I am sure he must be under.

You can read about his time in the hospital in this thread - https://jetboaters.net/threads/speedling-in-hospital.12850/
Just wanted to bump this. The goal is $10K and we're just over $500 away from reaching it. Way to go Jet Boaters!

Got bombarded by you guys the last few days! Thank you all again!
