I was never sure what the appreciation protocol is... Because you get great answers and might say thanks...then more answers come in and I just find I am saying thanks over and over....not a bad thing...but I am Canadian so I need to be sorry periodically.
I think what @Joshb723 ment was giving feedback and thanks, not only to all for their time and effort, but to the solution that worked so that the rest of us could learn from it. All of our suggestions are not necessarily tried and true but are sometimes educated guesses. Feedback would give validity to that educated guess and make it a fact that somebody else could use.
I agree this is a great site. I was and still am at the other place. I found a surprisingly lack of responses sometimes to a question when there are so many people over there. I've gotten great help here. I try to search before asking a question because I know its probably been asked before but digging through 300 pages of search results isn't easy.
But reading the questions and answers here and at YJB, has helped me to decide to buy a Yamaha. I did a lot of looking and bought a 2013 AR240. I haven't even seen one and I don't have my boat yet but I feel I made a great choice from all the enthusiasm I've read about the boat. Its been a big learning curve and hours ignoring my girlfriend as I have read as much as I can here about the boat, its issues and what I want mods I want to do.
Thanks for your patience and input. It is appreciated.
Derek
I think that this form and YJB are both quite good. Occasionally someone annoying comes through but they never last.
The only thing that drives me nuts is when people feel the need to add yet another post to a thread that basically rehashes everything said before. I guess it is just human nature, like the folks that reply to all on an email thread to tell people to stop replying to all. I just wish they would go for a simple +1 rather than making me read a long rehashing of the same information to look for any points that they might be correcting.
You can just click the "Like" button here! WOOT! I'm banned from that other site for sticking up for a mis-treated member, so I have nothing good to say about the owner --- he even blocks my IP.....so sorry if I can't "Like" posts pro the site I spent 11 years supporting, saving, developing and contributing to.
This place rocks though! (I'm not biased). I can't imagine living without the @Bruce or @txav8r feature!

So you don't mind a simple question about which fins are best then?

So, I know this has been started and talked about etc. for a bit now, but after some time on both, a couple thoughts..... (oh boy here we go...)
First, I like this aspect of having ALL jet boats, NOT just Yamaha's. Even if I think most of us here are biased towards the Yamaha's. We can invite and enjoy other jet boats. I would even love to entertain a good sized group of the hot rod types with the big blowers on top. I think they would bring a whole different level to our boards.
I also really like the "like" and @ features. They get used a lot, and they should!
I like the member map feature as well. Something so simple, but a member on the other site was kinda "maintaining" it but not really doing anything. I mean, it's been 2+ years with my request to be on that map?
I hope to enjoy both sites, as well as all the other forums I participate on, like Greenhulk, stangnet, etc. etc. etc. (I think there's like 20 of them in total) but I love to see people passionate about what they are doing!
It shouldn't be hard to be passionate about what you love to do in your free time!
PS. I'm going boating this weekend.... lets do this!

I am going to send an invite to my editor friend over at Hot Boat. . . . . And tell him to get his arse over here and join up. He's the reason I bought a house on my lake. He took me there in his 19' 1970 something Rodgers jet boat with a 455 olds bored out 40 over when I was 19. Now he races those kind of Jet Boats semi-professionally.
So much easier to read and manage on a mobile device... I wake up in the middle of the night often so I read on my Android Nexus 5 ... Last night I compared ... This site is wayyyyy easier to deal with and handsome too...
PLUS... the people and information are spot on excellent...
@cane.mba someone asked that very question on the other site the other day! I think i said... Oh God, here we go agian! That question sits with about 3-4 answer posts, that question on this site, 4-5 pages!! Just sayin...
Hey, for what it's worth, that's a great thread. It really got people thinking and talking about it.
The whole purpose of a site like this one...(and the other, other site) is to provide answers and to share information and to just plain talk about boats and all things boating.
The inclusion of other brands/makes really does broaden the scope of information available here and will ultimately prove this site to be superior in many ways.
I am enjoying my morning coffee, reading posts on a terrific board, and thinking about my trip to the river. Does this suck or what?
You have to love when a topic is debated in a thread. If there is not conclusive answer, then all is well. If there is and you choose to go down your own road, well, your a test pilot. We learn, you learn. It isn't a bad thing. The features here are window dressing, however I love them too! The membership and contributions they make are the cats meow! None of us are professional experts at anything. We may have training, education, and experience, but that doesn't mean we know more than anyone else. Balance. That is what we get here. I have a new boat with new systems that are foreign to me. I am asking questions and grateful to get some varied opinions and ideas. And just because I did so much to my old boat, doesn't make me the authority on it. We have a good balance here. I am guilty of the "get your popcorn ready" or the "Oh God, here we go again", myself. But I think those comments are self congratulating instead of helpful. Because if a guy asks a question, he is looking for an answer...generally. I say generally because we had trolls on the other site and here too I am sure, that just like to see turmoil and chum the water with hot topics, hoping to get the debate to turn ugly. This behavior creates friction and causes hatred. I am hoping we can keep that out of the forum. This forum has brought some healing to some of that.
I am with you @Glassman , I can't wait to get out of bed and read the comments and questions that have developed while I slept. Sometimes, when I wake in the night, I too grab the phone and see if a thread I am following had any comments or answers. You have to love what we have here and appreciate the members that contribute to the effort! B
