Original owner. When I turn key to start I have to shake throttle/shift back and forth to get the starter engaged and its getting worse. Where is this senor / switch located, in the shifter or back at the engine? What's it called?

Neutral safety switch is located in the shifter assembly. Item #2

This is a $5 part connected to a $30 cable. If you are electrically inclined you can go to a local electronic parts store and get the switch only and connect it to the existing harness for a fast and cheap fix.

Humble suggestion.

Best of luck!
