There has to be a car dealer on this forum!!! Come on now!! We need some real info and someone to make the stereotypical opinions on car dealers untrue.

They all take some kind of oath never to speak about how they fleece America!

Bbbwwwwaaahhh!!!!!

Auto leveling has never been reliable. Even Toyota couldn't make reliable / last.

Never for me....
06 Sequoia w/ air bags, haven't thought twice about it, np.

Yeah didn't mean to be be argumentative. I should have clarified... in the long run, i.e. out of warranty and over a sample of vehicles, no manufacturer seems to be able to make a leveling system that matches the reliability of the rest of the vehicle. They're always a "first to fail" point...

A vehicle I'm owning under warranty only? Maybe..

One I want to keep? Only if the system is easy to replace when it fails...

is 4wd a must when it comes to towing these boats on trips ?? as of now I only will tow to the ramp 2x a year bc the boat will be on the lift during the season

I wouldn't say 4WD is absolutely essential, but it does come in handy on some slippery ramps or situations.
Me - I've never owned a 2WD truck or SUV. Here in New England - they seem kinda silly. Even my commuter car is AWD. But then again - I don't live in Florida.

I went two wheel drive when I moved to Florida. I've been on some ramps that I wished I had 4WD but I got up and out because of my snow /ice driving capabilities. Sounds like you can get away with 2WD unless you know your ramp is steep and super slick for your rear wheels.

I haven't encountered a ramp yet that my 2wd tundra had a problem with. I always turn on the Automatic Limited Slip Differential (it really just brakes the spinning wheel like you would do by driving with 2 feet to get more traction in an older vehicle when stuck) and the only time there is wheel spin is if my wife is pulling the boat out. She has a problem with the power of the 5.7 and going slow with the gas. We stick to ramps in the south and my aluminum trailer is long enough to keep the tires away from the slick part of the ramp. I could see issues if you have a slick ramp with a shallow angle so you have to back into the slippery stuff.

I didn't want the extra cost and MPG hit just for that one time when I needed it on a ramp. Now, If I needed it, I'd probably wish I spent the money.

A 4wd isn't really necessary if you use a good ramp and know what you're getting into. My first tow vehicle was a 2wd F150 with a limited slip rear end. We never had a single problem retrieving the boat and my wife was always the one driving the truck at the ramp. We have a 4wd now for other reasons. Just make sure you have quality tires on your tow vehicle and go easy on the go pedal on the ramp.

Yes im debating....we can get some pretty harsh winters here in NJ...im thinking the 4wd will matter when we have 1 to 2 feet of snow...........now im looking at the 2015 grand Cherokee's also its gonna be one or the other

I have never had a 4x4 to pull the boat. Maybe someday.... But, I can say it is not necessary - at least for the boating I have done.

And I'm 100% the opposite of @farrelltravis ... I've never not had a 4x4 to pull a boat, and I've never not been in 4WD when pulling a boat out of the water. Makes me nervous to think what would happen if my back wheels slid out (even though I'm pretty slow to pull out of the water).

I can appreciate that. What I have always done is to be certain to never punch it. I always go slow to try to make certain traction isn't lost and the back tires don't spin. So far, so good. I totally understand the need/want for a 4x4 though. No question there. But, the question of is a 4x4 necessary? I would say it is a benefit, but not necessary.

Get the 4x4 you cheap bastard. . . . Living in the NE you will have many more uses for it than at the boat ramp. = )

On a side note, before you purchase ANYTHING Chrysler read this. . . https://jetboaters.net/threads/new-tow-vehicle.1057/#post-14489

While I will say we LOVE the 2014 JGC much more than the 2011 LEMON we only have about 3600 Miles on it. . . . .

Read that before...what ever happened with that, did you pay the cash back, stop hearing from them, or split the amount??? Im stuck on either a 2015 Tahoe or a Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit Edition.

Told the GM and Owner the mistake if any is the fault of their employees and had nothing to do with me. Any additional attempts to collect what they are not owed would be viewed as harassment and to cease the unwanted contact immediately. Have not heard from them since.

Just about to turn 5,000 miles and no problems so far. I really like it. It's been an adjustment going from a F250 Diesel to a Tahoe, but much easier to park. A couple of things I really like are the comfort, towing ability, the technology, and she gets a lot of looks and comments at the pump. So far so good. If anyone is looking for a new tow vehicle I highly recommend. A bit pricey on the new ones, but what isn't pricey these days. Cheers!

Glad it is working out. Super sharp vehicle. In spite of the price, they are selling like mad. From a recent Motor Trend article:

"General Motors can count its redesign of the 2015 Cadillac Escalade, GMC Yukon, and Chevrolet Tahoe as a roaring success so far. The new Escalade made the biggest jump, with 2467 vehicles sold for an increase of 123.3 percent. The longer Escalade ESV also improved its sales 107.4 percent to 1427 vehicles sold. Year-to-date sales for the standard Escalade are up 34.7 percent. The GMC Yukon is now up 52.7 percent in year-to-date sales, in part thanks to its July sales of 4139 units (a 48.4 percent increase). The longer Yukon XL was also up for July, growing its sales 27.2 percent to 3999 units sold. The Chevrolet Tahoe led the way with 10,783 units sold, increasing its sales 51.5 percent for July. Through July the Tahoe has sold 56,621 units, pushing it ahead 18 percent compared to last year. The only model to lose ground was the Chevrolet Suburban, which fell 16.4 percent but remains ahead 3.2 percent for the year."
