2022 Yamaha Boat Updates

I just picked up a 2022 Saturday. If you have questions I’ll do my best to answer them. My first jet boat, coming from stern drives.
Congratulations and Beautiful boat! New to jet boating...practice, practice, practice and make use of those dual throttles...you'll be amazed how you can pivot.
The first thing I thought when I saw the raised lettering is "How am I going to wax around those?" haha
I wish they made it an option for the port side chair or full bench seating...its my favorite place to nap on the boat where I can fully stretch out.
Thanks for the pics and Happy Boating!

Yamaha and their marketing team know what they are doing.
Not sure I'm on board with this one. I've seen way too many dumb errors on the Yamaha webpage, not to mention the egregious production quality issues.

I was in line for a 2022 212XE and my dealer called today. Someone backed out on a 2021 212XE and they asked if I wanted it. The only down fall was its the green, and my wife and I had decided on blue. Well with the $$ savings and knowing we can have it now, we changed out mind about the color really fast!
Did you take delivery of the new boat? Even though it's a 21 we would love pics. How was the quality of the finish on the boat?

Yes, I did take delivery of the boat. The quality wasn't terrible, but I felt it was a tad lower than when I bought my ar192 brand new in 2013. The jet pump nozzles were pretty far out of alignment, but thanks to Cobra Jet, I got them all lined up now. The marine mats were installed crooked, there's a few minor imperfections in the gel coat, and we noticed today one of the rear transom speakers is not working. Also, a transom back rest cushion got beat up in shipping, but the dealer has already ordered a new one. I moved the snaps for the marine mat myself and got those straightened out. As far as operation, the boat has been flawless thus far. Went though the engine break in this weekend, and cruised the lake without any problems. 20210807_131320.jpg20210806_101653.jpg

I have a deposit on a 19.5S. I was told yesterday I could go to the dealership on Sunday Aug 15th and I see the 2022 that just arrived last week. I was told they will not unwrap any Yamaha boat until the 15th so don’t bother trying to show up before the 15th. Had he not said anything, I would have showed up early. ? oh, the dealership is Ride Now in Jacksonville Fl.
Take some photos and post please. Thank you.

What is the height of your garage door?

What is the height of your garage door?
8 feet exactly. Boat fits with a few inches to spare. I removed the tower cables, and built brackets to hold the tower out of 1.5" wide 1/4 inch thick aluminum. 1/2" hole in each end, 17" on center. Pin the top into the tower with the factory pin (in the picture I had a bolt but the pin is way easier) and bolt the bottom to the bottom hole on the boat. Then loosen 2 bolts on each wakeboard rack and turn them down to clear. The whole process takes maybe 5 minutes.

Can you take a picture of the dash when you get a chance please curious if that changed. I signed up for the 2022 212se.

Talked to our dealer in Maryland today. Confirmed it's going down August 17th. We are 4th on the list for a 252SD so feeling pretty good about our chances of getting one before the season officially ends.

I just got a 2022 212xe. I’d like to see the storage area where the two hard ballast tanks are on the 2021. I think that is something that changed.
Don't mind my mess of stuff. Hope you can see what you wanted!

That's different then the stock pics Yamaha has on their website. The port storage shows the tank well into the storage area.
That's what I thought as well. I asked the dealer when I picked the boat up, they thought maybe that is all the electronics and controls for the paddle shifters on the steering wheel of the 212XD models. Either way, I'm glad it does not extend into the storage compartment on mine.

If you guys are referring to the hard ballast tanks I agree that makes those compartments useless for storage on the XD’s from what I have seen in pictures. They need to go back to the soft ballast tanks so that you can still use those compartments for storage when not surfing. Why did they switch to the hard ones? Were the soft ones getting punctured/damaged?

they went to hard ballasts because they could put weight where it was needed. Only so much you can do with a bag for placement. If u look on the 255 series like mine the hard tank extends all the way to the back transom.

That makes sense having the hard tank further back which you would think would eliminate the need for a fatsac but I see most with the XD’s still need a fatsac for a good wave. So I’m not 100% sure losing all this space is worth it for storage if it didn’t help make the wave big enough.
