2023 255xd Maptuner X tunes

Ok so this last weekend the weather was good for speed runs. I would call this "full power" testing
So on Saturday stage 1 8300rpm 12/18 twins stock cones (no L13). 56mph @ 8000 port / 7600 starboard.. Yes there is slippage cavitation down low hole shot punching it/ fullish throttles , it is quick to recover though but not an issue during wake sports.

On Sunday stage 1plus 8500rpm 12/18 twins stock cones (no L13). 58mph @ 8300 port / 7900 starboard.
Yes different tune. Midrange and top end felt great. It hit the upper 55mph fast. Then felt like 58mph was bam.
Issues.. hole shot ( Drag race style) cavitation. Normal take off / watersports OK. That can be addressed later.
The issue is at 58 boat gets a bit loose but 1%-3% on the ZipWake trim helps. but scrubs speed.
The scarry issue at 58mph the boat starts to wiggle on the last little bit of keel and any wave introduces proposing then One motor is dropping out or cavitation and the boat tries to make a hard Right I say Right but it might be left. I need to star videoing this...
There is no check engine light or warning faults. hopefully not a temp or knock issue.
So I believe that during the proposing a pump ingests air. It is hard to watch the RPMs to see how the motor is reacting at that time You know with the boat trying to hard turn it's self at the upper 50s. After this a slow to near stop than rev each motor and take off and go again.

With all of this the boat felt the best that it ever has. While tubing and changing directions it was hooked mostly. To driving a 25' boat like a jet ski and powering out of turns... There is still work to be done. I think one of the sets of twin is going to get re-pitched to a 13/19. Or compile all of this and call Leading edge.

Glad to see you’re getting some results !

That wiggle and sudden right turn is very disturbing…. That is a stability problem and in my opinion a huge warning sign, in certain conditions that could lead to a sudden capsizing at 58 mph.

Sounds like chine walk. It would be interesting if you adding water to your center ballast would help plant the boat/pumps.

It probably would but also the top speed would probably come down. The issue probably is also due to the outer most chine is removed 16" befor the transom only on the X models. You can see in the picture that right where the geen stops the side chine stops too.

Yeah, that makes sense...

could you install some waverunner spontoons in that spot?!

Your a genius I was wanting something removable. I was thinking of molding something up. I need to take a 255 fhs for a spin. They have a standard hull.

Ok so this may help put it all together.
Look at 7/26 and 8/9. The temp and DA/AD are near the same but the Mph and the feel of the boat changed with the tune.

Is your weight/fuel load similar on these comparisons?
Nice chart though thank you

Well done on the chart!

It’s clear to see how much impact DA has on your results.
