Anclote Sand Bar

I can only wish I can get the boat out Sunday. Pretty sure it's not going to happen... 80% chance of thunderstorms with 17mph winds in St. Pete

Did you guys check that wave height ??
It IS the offshore Buoy but still..

I still haven't made it to the sand bar, always end up at either the tip of Honeymoon, Three Rooker or Anclote key. was out last sunday and it was a great day. seems that the tides have washed away most of the sandy beach part of three rooker, so there really isn't much room there during high tide, so we anchored at the tip of honeymoon and had plenty of room.

We went out to Anclote sat. It was really nice. Super flat on the way back. The sand bar is all but gone at this point. I went there about 3 weeks ago and it hard to find a spot to park after 1100.

Anyone participating in the pasco county scalloping season?

We're going to check it out but doubt there will be any there. Hernando beach and bay port have minimal. We went north to Homosassa yesterday and limited out before noon

I went out last year in September and we did OK. Had alot of fun but wished we fond more. I went out of the Hernando Beach boat ramp then we went north for about 30 minutes before we dropped anchor.

with no on scalloping for years, you do not think the areas around port richey and hudson will have many scallops?

when you say limited out, you are saying you harvested the max amount of scallops allowed by law all before noon? could you be a little more specific about the location you went to? :)

If you head out of Homosassa, you will see the parking lot of boats on the grass flats..
Find an open area and drop in. If it's a bust. Move on a 100 yds or so. Sometimes you don't have to move far at all...

We will be going this Sunday.

I'm not from the area but I'm wanting to take the family scalloping ASAP. If anyone has any advice, coordinates, etc. it would be much appreciated.

I should probably just start a new thread...

Yes there was only 3 of us on board so our legal limit was 6 gallons un-shucked. That includes all 5 scallops that our 7 year old found. We were in about 5 feet of water. We went out just as the outgoing tide was ending and the incoming tide was beginning. 8 ft deep scalloping will give you a workout that we wanted to avoid.

Like @tim h said if you launch out of Homosassa just look for the "parking lot" of boats at the end of the channel. We launch out of Bayport. I'd rather be on the water cruising than driving up US19

Here's where we were but anywhere close to this should do well
28° 42.438' N
82° 44.726 W
