I have a 2013 AR192 with the supercharged 1.8. I got a check engine light the other day with trouble code 17 which according to google its the knock sensor. Has anyone had to replace their knock sensor before? I was just looking for some tips and location of the sensor. I searched the net and YouTube and there isn't much info on it

Do you have a service manual? If not you n I d to get one. If you need help getting one let us know.

I have this same code 2014 AR192. I have also searched and haven’t found much info. A lot of people said a faulty knock sensor is unlikely. The only other person I knew who had it said it was caused by his supercharger clutch. I am showing no symptoms of a bad clutch. My RPMs and Speed are normal. I only throw the code at wide open throttle. If you get any information please share, it’s driving me crazy.

I will preface this by saying, I don't think it works in this direction, but other Yamaha engines that were tuned for 91-93 would throw a knock sensor code when we ran 87. It was the reason it had the knock sensor, as it would allow us to run 87 long enough to get out of the woods and get back on higher octane fuel.

The 192 is tuned for 87, would it throw a code if you were running 93? I truly believe that is not the case, but there are plenty of folks running octane boosters or higher octane than what the engine was tuned for. And we have preached that running higher octane than what is specified will provide no additional performance, and should cause no damage.

My question for someone smarter than me, will it trip the knock sensor? I was under the assumption, it was only the other way around, running too low of octane would cause knock.

To the OP, what octane fuel are you running and are your running octane boosters? And if so, why.

Good luck guys.
