ArmyChief is in the hospital awaiting a double bypass

I think this is outstanding news on two fronts: Health-wise and thinking-about-the-boat-wise. I just wish I could have rated it 'Winner' twice. Keep at that healing thing, @ArmyChief !

@ArmyChief posted this on Facebook

"I died yesterday morning at the end of a 4 mile run. The Army PA & ambulance people were able to resuscitate me with chest compressions & electroshock.

I'm currently in Orange Park Medical Center awaiting a double bypass in a few days. Sorry, I didn't post earlier, but I've had some Great Soldier visitors keeping me company. Plus, my wife and son got here last night."

Let's all keep him in our prayers or positive thoughts and wish him well!
Sorry to hear that! ArmyChief is a great American! He is in our thoughts and prayers!

Praying for you @ArmyChief !!

Edit: see that you don't have blockage! Guess our prayers were answered before I even prayed 'em.

My brother who is 53 has had 2 heart attacks. He has had 8 stents put in total. They won't do a bypass until he is older, because the body can only take about 2 bypass surgeries. I second your advice. I'm 43, 10 years younger than my brother, but I have scheduled to go see my brothers cardiologist in April. I'm going to request the dye test. Basically because of what you said, the stress test, calcium scan, and other tests did not pick up my brothers problems either.

@BigN8,

Please let me know how your's turns out.

Update: Surgeon wants MORE video of my heart. So, I'm back to cardiologist to get another catheter dye test to see where blockages are. Bad thing is the waiting now. I'm about fully recovered from first operation (stent), now its the waiting for a second operation and having to recover all over again.

BTW, if you are over 40..go get a catheter heart test!!. I had the usual testing done last year (blood, nuclear stress-test and Cat Scan). All "looked" normal. Best test to have done is catheter test!!!
Brother, glad to hear you are hanging tough and doing better!

Doing well..thanks for asking. Finished Cardio Rehab a 4-6 weeks ago..been working hard ever since. Doctor says I'm 100%....still scares me to run in the morning by myself :)

amen ! happy to hear that you're doing better...

Glad to hear you're A-O.K.! Don't let up!

Great to hear you are doing well brother! Hang in there and if at all possible don't run by yourself? I know that you are tough and want to get that apprehension monkey of your back, but best to be cautious. All the best!!!

Really glad to hear your back in the saddle so to speak!

Glad to hear you are doing well Doug!!

Welcome back to the land of the living. . . . . Glad to hear you're all better Chief.

I am glad this has worked out well for you. You are a little older so take more time to exercise and slowly build it up. You will get there.

Happy to hear things are back to normal Doug. Next time we head down we're bringing the boat and I hope we get to meet up then.
Andy

Scary stuff, glad you are doing well.

Something pretty similar happened to a close friend who is a gym rat and very healthy.

Scared me enough to join a gym and get my body in better shape. I've lost 50 pounds in 2 years and have more energy than ever. Been a game changer for me. Hope my insides are as healthy. I'm 36 so I'll get some tests done over next few years.
