Captain's chair... Replace/swap/upgrade?

In the 230s (and probably the 240s as well as Yamaha’s other models) the oem pedestal was secured in place by bolts that have a Phillips head. The nuts are embedded in the deck. That is, the pedestal is mounted the same way the intake grates are.

I don't know about that @Mainah , the adjustable pedestal that I installed in my 230 and that seems to be the most popular is manufactured by Garelick (sp?) and was a perfect fit. If basspro has a good return policy it may be worth buying and trying it or just call Springfield for the bolt pattern measurements and compare them to you own boat's.

@Mainah , that Looks like the 9" plate and 4" on center holes that my old Springlfield had and my new Springfield pedestal has. Maybe I rushed too quickly into buying a solid pedestal for the 242 seat transplant? Oh well, there's always next season.

Does anyone have one of these? https://bolsterbuddy.com/
Not an ideal solution, but far cheaper than trying to replace the seat, and seems to be a quality piece, and would be more comfortable than using the bolster for sure.

Others may have to chime in but I believe the harmonics are different with this pedestal. I was out yesterday and the boat definitely sounded different

So I think I've found my solution. Scored a nice deal on a hydraulic garelick post from @Beachbummer. Got it installed this weekend. Really nice. Good seat base too. Doesn't wobble, swivel, slide, raise, lower, very easy. I had a height adjustable post with a pin lock, and it just wasn't easy to use, so it stayed in one position, which was a bit higher than stock, but not as high as it needed to be. The new post gets you a little bit lower than stock, at least in my boat, then has about 4" of rise that gets you above the windshield. Really nice. From there, I bought a cushion from bolsterbuddy.com. Nicely constructed, and comfortable! I picked the charcoal color, and to my surprise is matches perfectly. So with that, I removed the stock bolster. This made the seat much more comfortable and gives more room between the dash and the seat. So if we're cruising and I want to be below the windshield, just lower the seat. Raise the seat to get above, and then I used the cushion for more height when surfing. Huge huge huge improvement over the stock setup. I don't hate my seat anymore!
