It was a great weekend gang, and hated to see it end. It was good to see all of you and the floating cabins were really nice. The restrictions seemed to be a bit overdone and a tad threatening, but it was a great weekend and never had an issue. It was hard for many of us that had launched earlier in the day, to get to the office to check in, because we were not allowed on any of the docks or cabins, even if they were your own rental...until after you had checked in. And early check in was absolutely out of the question, even if the unit was ready and unoccupied. I am sure they have had issues in the past that has these policies in place today. Regardless, some of the policies could use some work, especially since they don't have a service or guest dock for those arriving by water...and the parking is just as restrictive. The occupancy restrictions were hard to deal with also, from the standpoint that it was hard to plan a way for everyone to gather in the same place for an evening meal or even just a social hour. These would be great to have a family reunion or other get together too. But if your restricted to how many can be on your unit at one time, even with the floating patio, we couldn't say "everybody come over", because we would have violated the policy there. On a positive note, I was very impressed with the cleanliness and state of repair. I only heard of a couple of issues all weekend with the cabins. A false smoke alarm issue and I think Rodney drove from home in the early morning hours to take care of it! And a grill issue too but @Bruce had his Magma grill, so he didn't bother them about it. If it wasn't for the cost, we would do this several times this summer. That is the issue with Lake Murray, no guest or rental slips for just a weekend, and that makes the floating cabins even more attractive. I am sure the owners of the floating cabins feel they offer a product of high standard, but without competition, the sky is the limit on their pricing...and they keep high occupancy rates. So you really can't say they are too expensive. I want to give a big thanks to Floating Cabins at Lake Murray for accommodating us this past weekend and giving us the deal that they did! I am hopeful that we can make this an event we can do again! Now that we know the layout and the rules, we could arrange to make it work even better!

We hope to go to Elephant Rock RV campground this summer too. It is just to the north, across the cove from the floating cabins. It is on the same peninsula that Tipps Point is on. Living only 55 miles away from Murray gives us the ability to take both truck towing the boat, and the motorhome. But it looks like we would have to launch and recover daily, or leave the boat on anchor off shore. Doable, but not the convenience we hope for. And you all know how most of us feel about "beaching" our boats...we DON'T! But I sure could use a deep box anchor and pull the stern to shore with an anchor buddy if the weather permitted. If not, I would just have to swim out to it. Or could get a small dingy of some sort to pull the boat back up. Maybe some of you with RV's might want to plan a weekend to help keep us rookies to the RV world from making rookie mistakes!

It was great to see everyone!

we had a blast, nice seeing everyone and meet members. Thanks @PEARCE for the buger seasoning and @Rana for the seasoning, the T bones were great. and thanks to @Detonate i allready ordered 2 of the floating thingies and i think the wife wants a go pro now, Im gonna have to say no to the gatherings cause it cost me money afterwards! @jawsf16 we missed you 2. @txav8r i will be expecting my shortest traveled trophy soon, we pull out of the water at 2:30, wiped the boat down, traveled , put the boat in storage, went home, unloaded, put everything up and had my drink at 4:30! Thanks again everyone for the memories.

I see an outboard! :nailbiting:

You can't believe the attention our flotilla was attracting. We had boats is all varieties, even a zodiac came by to check us out. I didn't meet te folks in the outboard, but they showed up and asked if they could raft next to @farrelltravis i believe...and he said yes! They had great water toys and just joined in.

I tied up to the couple with the prop, Wes and Stacy, the kids were Jacey 8 and Walker 4. very nice couple from up around the city.

@Scottintexas was all out there by his lonesome......

Great pics

We had a great time all weekend and I'm still paying for it by being a little tired and with a little too much sun. Now that I know the rules and what to expect at the place I'd be ok going back sometime. Just not before 3pm. Lol! Not being able to gather as a group at one spot in the evening was a bummer though. If you're a one person team it could be a real pain with the logistics of the boat, truck and trailer, and where the ramps are located in relation to the resort. If your boat handling skills are a little rusty I would recommend staying away from the marina on the weekends. It was quite crazy getting out of there on Sunday. Looking forward to our next unofficial gathering on Texoma in August if the lake is open and usable by then.

Next year I will leave our truck and trailer at the marina and transport everything to the cabin by boat. We transported everything by boat this year but @Rana and the kids boated from the marina to the cabin while I drove the truck and trailer to find parking in very short supply.

My thinking is play on the lake until 3 if you get there early then go tie up at your cabin at 3 and walk to check in.

We checked in late. They gave us the door code over the phone and left the paperwork in the room. It would be great if we could get them to do this for everyone.

@Bruce that is what @maboat did with his truck and trailer. I like having my truck available in case we need to run somewhere or there's an emergency. We did an ice run Saturday morning with Mark and Jim in my truck and we drove by the marina to check on Mark's truck and trailer. I'm thankful that my wife is very good at handling the truck and trailer while I pilot the boat.
