New 2015 Models

Th
I think Yamaha is 'jumping the shark' by producing other boats with outboards. The suits are probably mislead by their capitalization of the jet boat market and think that they can take a percentage of another market.

they've been making Outboards for 30 years, why wouldn't the Stick one on their own boats??
The word I heard last summer is the 3 jet cruiser was not very efficient as an I/o or OB at that length and weight.

If that is true they need to publish that shit so we know the deal. Same with supercharged 1800s in a 21'!

This is what I am hoping to see in the US for 2015 with a hardtop.

Would not buy.... compared to other 31 footers, there is not a lot of space inside, and lacks the safety and maneuverability of twin engines. (Thruster helps) Most 31 footers have a dinette and bed in the berth. That outboard setup also uses up a ton a space in the rear, and since it's pivot point is higher you lose trim range. Very innovative... I'll give them that.

At 8'10" beam that is a possibly a trailerable cruiser. The legal limit is 8' 6" but owners of similar width boats typically ignore the requirement. Most 31' cruisers are wider needing wide load permits to move them around.

I think its hard to say what the space is like inside without actually touring it in person but I would be VERY interested based on what I can see here. I would love to know the cruising specs such as top speed and GPH at cruise along with the US pricing.

So it weighs 7000 lbs and takes 100 gallons of fuel which is 850 lbs. so full load is 7850 lbs. I guess that would be well within a newer F150 type truck. I just wouldnt want to tow something that big though. But hey thats me :)

I guess this is a new class of cruiser boat.

Do people want a yammie cruiser for towing purposes? I can't figure out why else you would want a cruiser that is propless.

Why? Yes, these are the following reasons why I would want it.

1. It's a Yamaha.
2. It's 31 feet and still towable.
3. The enclosed outboard allows me to be propless while tied up.
4. It has a cabin that sleeps 4 people for long weekend trips.
5. It has built in electronics, and overnight amenities such as a sink, fridge and microwave.
6. It's sea worthy.
7. Hopefully affordable and not a gas guzzler.

With one engine, it might be semi-affordable, but I'd also bet a little under powered. I'd like to have 2 engines for redundancy on a vessel this size. I have zero experience with outboards of this size, but have heard the V6 and V8 Yamaha Outboards are superbly reliable and quiet. It is an interesting concept to be sure. I'd love for my next boat to be a cruiser of sorts. Maybe a 30-35fter. I have my heart set on a few of these models http://www.aspenpowercatamarans.com/pages/photoPage.html#, I just don't have the pockets to purchase one! I realize these also only have one engine, but it does make the boat a lot more affordable (comparatively). And how often are we REALLY going 50 on the water? When I go out to cruise I like to go about 20 - 25MPH. I'm sure this Yamaha could do that all day. This would be an interesting boat, but I'd have to see it before I plunked down 80-100 large on one. Does it have a generator and AC for example? What is the cruising range? Etc etc...

I am not in the market for one of these. I would love to have one though. I have no idea on cost, but my guess is that these are in the $200k range. Just my guess.

I agree, two engines would be nice but it would really impact the up front purchase cost and operating costs. I haven't been able to find any performance specs yet but will post if I do.

You are probably right on the 200K guess. I'd have to wait for some SERIOUS depreciation at that price level! :)

Just read that the Yamaha 350 v8 outboard is $26,245.00. It seems there may be an option for the 300 hp v6 for less.

It is gorgeous... Maybe something like this and then a 19' to go with it!

Those side windows are horrendous.

Wait guys... that's just the SR model right? I mean, wait till they show you the sx310, the ar310, or even the delux 312.
In all seriousness, that boat is aimed for a $200,000-$300,000 buyer looking to save a bit of money. That's not going to be under $100k. Dual engines would make it knock on the $200k door for sure.
Not the kinda boat I'm looking for personally, but perhaps some of you are. They have been putting more money into the outboards than the jet engine development for sure.
