I've decided to join the American Cancer Society team for the upcoming Broad Street Run (10-Mile Race through Philadelphia). I'm trying to raise $500 for the cause in honor of my mother-in-law who was recently diagnosed. As some of you know, for the past decade my day job has been advancing new cancer therapies through clinical research and into the clinic, but this now hits much closer to home. If you can spare a few bucks, I'd really appreciate it!

Thank you for the donation @Julian, very much appreciated!

Done. Sorry to hear about your situation. I hope it turns out well.

This is a helluva worthwhile cause. Donated !!! Let's get @seanmclean to his 1k goal

Thanks everyone for supporting this cause (and me, I guess :)) Truly humbled by the support I've gotten, having met my initial $500 goal in only a couple days. Bumped it up to a $1K goal and hope to eclipse that as well.

Just wanted to thank everyone for the donations made to this cause! I completed the run on Sunday, and am now back to being able to walk again. Shortly after my last post here I had a family member become pretty seriously ill (and still is), so my training went to precisely zero. Had it been under any other circumstance I wouldn't have showed up, but I laced up my shoes and went to the starting line in the pouring rain. First 7 miles were okay, and the last three were quite the struggle to even keep moving forward. Tweaked my ankle somehow but I'm on the mend and ready for boating season.

Thanks again for the support, I truly appreciate it - and so does the cause.
