I know everyone has experienced some poorly run sites over the past few years. I am excited this new site for our boats has risen and hope the Admins have learned much about the failures of the others. Looking forward to being part of a positive and enjoyable community where freedom of speech and respect are honored.

Ok, 1 of my pet peeves. This is NOT the Salvation Army. PLEASE!!!! No donation begging threads. I felt hostage at a previous boat site where people were always begging for donations to cover up the fact that the guy running the site was a complete fool. Ads are part of todays message board life. Dont like them dont read them but they are an important part of a successful long term forum. Admins know what it costs to manage a site like this and should have a financial plan to deal with it.

Bruce, I hate to say it but I will never hide from the fact I am a for profit entity. Non Profit and ad free??? I would light this place up with ads like down town Tokyo on a Friday night, then find a way to spread some of that ad revenue around the site. But this is not my site so we will keep that in perspective

Bob, when Mel, Julian and I got together to create this forum, we did so to create a better home for our community. Everyone involved in running the forum has a day job that meets their financial needs and allows for spare time to contribute here.

Ad free is the way to go. I am now drinking a cold one to toast this forum's founders! Ads simply gum up the works. My only request is that if you ever sponsor a group buy, you won't shut down the board! I've been trying to access that other site for almost a week, and can only read the below:

"Board is Currently Disabled for Management Assessment and for Processing Group Buys. Estimated at 24-48 hrs."
