I almost did back in 96'-97'. Came so close - we had a house picked out, had work lined up, we had no kids at that time - and we could've sold our house here for a boat load and built a gorgeous house down there for like $200k or less back then. Was looking at the east coast Grant and Vero Beach areas of Florida. But ultimately, the wife couldn't move away from her family. Most of the time I'm glad we didn't - like from mid April thru September - I love the New England area. But other times (when it's cold) I regret not doing it.
I start getting bummed out in November - I just cant stand the snow and the cold anymore. As I get older, I get less and less tolerant to the cold.
I'm the exact same these days. I grew up in Iowa and we moved to STL in 2000, now I kick myself every winter for not going farther South. I would love to find a good job in Florida.
Got to love southern drivers in snow. On a brighter note Waffle House is open.....I also saw people getting stuck trying to order McDonald's. Priorities people....
