Trailer Guide Help

I just installed the 40" guides on our 190 trailer and my question is how much space do you all leave between the rub rail and the guide. Is 2" enough or will I want to drown myself after trying to get in between these goal posts when loading the boat.

FYI: I've become quite good at centering the boat in the calm loading area we have at our lake. But I'm unsure how much is too much, how much is too little. If I got instructions this proabably woulve been covered. I added these mainly for backing the empty trailer down the ramp.

2" on each side is more than enough. . . . Remember, your boat tapers from a point at the bow to square at the back.

Mine almost touch the rub rail.

Just remember...if you use fenders when staging at the dock... be absolutely sure to pull them in before loading on your trailer with guides!
