image.jpg I saw this Thursday. I think that should be a verbal question before handing me a stack of papers with words on them.

Got to visit with her today. :)20150307_171740.jpgThe one on the right is my Dad's Prince craft deck boat and the one on the left is his old Bass Tracker.

That THING is cool! I've seen a couple of them locally, red and yellow. What's the background story on that model?

Derived from the WW2 Kubelwagen, was designed for military use. Built 68-80, but only imported to the US in 73 and 74 (I believe it was safety issues that stopped them from importing any more) Basically, the same chassis as an old Beetle (well, Karmann Ghia really, floorpans are a bit wider), but essentially the same. Rear engine, flat 4, aircooled, rear wheel drive 4 door convertible! I've been in love with them since I was a kid, and this is now my 4th. Doors pop right off, windshield folds down, just an awesome summer cruiser.

I assume you restore, enjoy for a while then sell?

No sir. Things are keepers for me. Various circumstances have made me sell them in the past, but there is nothing I love more. Last one I sold I had for 7 years, and only sold because I moved back up north and just couldn't enjoy her. I'll be buried in this one. Only tearing this one apart as some jackhole glued carpet in at some point, and they aren't supposed to be carpeted. So, now I gotta have the interior stripped and repainted. OCD will be the death of me (or my wallet, anyway).
