Regardless of political affiliation, operating a huge ‘parade’ of boats in close proximity to other boats at any speed greater than no wake, is likely to cause dangerous conditions on the water.

Anyone with half a brain should know that, oh wait, on second thought I’m not surprised it happened now.

I heard that the boat that sunk was a Soros funded Antifa operation and that they purposely scuttled the boat to make the Trump parades look bad.

The fact that it sunk means it is a pretty old boat. Pretty sure all new boats our size have to float for 24 hours minimum. That thing went down fast so clearly had no internal foam.....
I thought only boats under 20 feet are required to have flotation. Maybe Yamaha is hiding some in the floor, but between the engine bay, gas tank, and huge ski locker it can’t be very much. I know the gunwales are open all the way through

Anyone with half a brain should know that operating a huge ‘parade’ of boats in close proximity to other boats is in no way as dangerous as reckless driving, looting, steal, beating people unconscious AND killing people....

But like I said, you need half a brain to realize this... Annndddd, apparently some people around here don’t... Sad, just sad...

A famous man once said “A boat parade is the voice of the unheard.” So I can understand you conflating riots and boat parades.

ok folks....enough of the back and forth.

The boat sank, we'll likely never know the real reason. We can probably all agree that no matter the cause, having a flotilla going by while you are trying to deal with sinking 1) would be an additional pain you probably didn't need, but 2) was quite helpful in the Johnny on the spot rescue category.

So unless there is something I missed, let's quit the bashing and move on. Any further marginal attacks will get a warning and thread closed.

This is why we don't allow political posts....goes south quickly ----and why is going south bad? :sour:

I participated in a “boat parade” from Fort McHenry in Baltimore over Memorial Day weekend. Fort McHenry was hosting a very special guest on Memorial Day! Wow! What a great and memorable day that was. Many awesome boats and wonderful people! Everyone was practicing safe boating. ??????

Gasparilla boat parade happens every year... I haven't heard of any boats sinking due to the wake made by the boat parade goers.

Airplanes crash and Boats sink.... s*it happens. Sucks, but it happens. Can you predict when and where it will happen ?? NO
Can you do everything imaginable to try and prevent it, SURE ! But , many don't do proper maintenance.. Test and clean your bilge pumps OFTEN. You never know when one will fail until you really need it......

We all know the boat sank because he didn't subscribe to BroncosGuru and got his drain plugs stolen from the drain plug mafia

I was thinking that too. I’ve seen several videos of the ‘Submarine’ and the boats don’t sink. Not show boats that may have additional ballast either.

Does anyone know how this happened? It doesn't appear that he threw it in reverse to me.

At the very least, would have been a no wake zone immediately under that bridge - outside of that, I dont see any sign of a no wake zone - no buoys, no signs on the bulkhead, and no marinas/moorings. That boat went down in a hurry, scary.

When you overload your boat this is what happens, there's a capacity plate on a boat for a reason. Those boats sits way low in the water to begin with and when you overload them with people and ballast one wave over the side will sink you fast. With wakesurfing becoming popular people are trying to make boats that aren't setup to carry heavy ballast into wake boats.

A good reason to keep your ballast pump out and ready when surfing. These boats take on enough water while surfing them - having your bilge fail during a surfing session could put you in dire straights really quick.

I counted 4 adults and one kid...no way they were overloaded with people (unless there is other video of people bailing before the one linked in the OP's post). I'm going to guess they simply left the plug out.....drove down the river (no issues as the water wasn't coming in while on plane). Slowed down for the heavy wakes and started taking on water, and didn't notice the problem right away.....bilge perhaps non-functional.....(scupper broke?) They sank. As I said earlier....but must have been really old as newer boats (like since mid to late 90's) must float for 24 hours by CG regulations....that thing went down like a rock!

I think there was more people that had already gotten off the boat and were trying to get on the tube when the video pans to the sinking boat.

Just curios about people adding ballast to Yamaha’s to surf/listing/getting corners riding in the water.

Have there been any stories of sinking/near sinking????

Definitely nothing to do with the parade. Nice try though.
I'm pretty sure @anmut was replying to my question indirectly regarding the submarine video. He wasn't stating anything about the parade or avoiding it. So, not sure what this statement means.

I wasn't replying to your comment but to the OP. If it was a reply to your comment it's out of order.

I was just trying to make sure @anmut doesn't get caught in the crossfire because he was replying to @ripler who was replying to me. (I'm confused just writing this.) No biggie.
